Could anybody please help me understand how i change the battery type on a Golf R Mk 6
I know how to add new battery (CHANNEL 4) and change the amps and serial number but I cant see where I change it to (for example) Fleece etc
It may be that these older cars you cant change the type and I have looked on lots of MK6 Forums and the web generally and not found anything that helps.
Thanks in advance.

My 2010 vi is plain jane. It does NOT have auto start/stop and has (had) a simple factory battery.
Only cars with auto start/stop and ergo a glass matt (GM) battery need to be reprogrammed.

The battery "TYPE" shoud not require changing. My 2010VI does have the settings same as yours. But only the serial number is changeable. I put the date into the serial number field so i wont loose it.
Cars WITHOUT auto start/stop just use standard and cheap lead acid batteries. C$100.00
Cars WITH auto stop/start require the fleese or glass mat batteries. C$400.00 The special types need special charging programs .The program needs to be told that It has a new battery, the specific type , the capacity.
Using batteries may damage the charging system.
Why would you want to change the TYPE ?

If you have control unit 61 and it has long coding (not all of them do) this is where you would change the battery type

Does your car have auto START/STOP ??. NO = wet type (lead acid) YES = type program.

I recently had to replace my battery, and since I needed to be back on the road the same day, I didn't have a chance to be picky about what battery I got and ended up with an AGM (I just took what the parts store said would fit). I've driven a bit over 300 miles with it now and have gotten the other adaptations but can't find a way to change the type.
So far, no issues, but do you think this could shorten the lifespan of the battery?
2012 CBFA, I've also read elsewhere that vw may have switched to AGM for oem batteries around mid 2011 anyway
