Has anyone here on the forum successfully retrofit the rear view camera? If Yes, where did you connect the white/green cable from the camera into the gateway?
Update: here is my guide to retrofit rear view camera on ID.3
I bought:
- Emblem camera: Original, 10A827469P
- Cable set: Golf 8/ Id.3 from AliExpress
- OBDeleven pro
Assembly:
Take the warning triangle out of the holder on the tailgate, loosen the 2 screws behind it, loosen the trim with a suitable dismantling wedge or similar, there are about 10 metal clips.
Remove the rear headliner trim and loosen the trim at the top of the rear window. The interior can now be seen on the tailgate, which is made entirely of plastic.
Loosen the “old” tailgate opener (3x screw), disconnect the water drain hose and the connection plug and remove the opener by twisting it slightly and instal the emblem camera in reverse order.
Now connect the cable set. Once this is done, route the cable harness through the tailgate to the right using a suitable pulling tool (wire or similar), and then through the right cable grommet...
Then route the wiring harness further forward to the right into the footwell, disconnect the red cable in the cable set and connect it to slot 21 (terminal 15, switched plus) of the fuse box using a suitable adapter or similar and protect it with 5A fuse.
Then remove the glove box (unlock the locking tabs at the top, fold down and remove)
This is where the CAN gateway (J533) is located. First add the Ethernet connector (white/gren cables) to the first connector(black), pin 13/14.
And at the 3rd connector, establish the chassis CAN bus connection, pin 7 (CAN-L) and 8 (CAN-H). cable colors: orange(high) and brown/gray(low).
Put everything back together…
Coding: Gateway (19), multimedia (5F) and Parking Camera (6C) must be activated.
Gateway (19) Adaption Gateway - ENG258078-Coding_park_coordinator-PaCo_Video_Parksystem = RVC Compact Smart
Module Multimedia 5F Adaption
VPS_0x0B = active
VPS_0x0V_msg_bus = CAN_FAS with VCP
Parking System Video input : 1392x656
Function Configuration Unit Set RVC Video input to Ethernet
Module Parking Camera 6C long coding : 02030004E43000
If parking camera module (6C) isn't added automatically. Go to module list in ODBeleven app. There is a plus button. Find the camera module 6C module and mark it. When you press save or ok. App will ask you to autocode gateway, press yes. And now you have one more module on list (camera module).
Of course, this is all without any warranty!
Note: The tailgate opener will not work until the red cable is connected to the power supply (fuse 21)!
