Has anyone swapped a manual front seat to a 12 way adjustable one successfully? In my case both seat harness pigtails that plug into the chassis are pinned the same way. Currently only the seat base moves and the other 2 switches that control reclining and lumbar do not work. I tried long coding helper looking to see if there as a simple box click and found nothing. I'm still trying to see if the key to make the swap complete is coding. The harness part numbers are different but the same connectors are the same for both harnesses and wiring diagrams are identical. I don't have much wiring experience and zero coding experience. I have access to VAGCOM and OBD11 but don't know which modules to look at or what I'm looking at. Would anyone be able to tell me where to look from here to possibly get it all to work? Any guidance or assistance would be appreciated!

n8daniel : Hi. hmm..... it really DOES depend on the particular model, build-year and what car-side the steering wheel is installed on this car!
However and as a very general response about MQB platform cars (like the mk7), the high-end electric front driver seat option that has both height and longitudinal lumber adjustment requires a module that VW calls massage control module (it's called "J740" in the wiring diagram) Although J740 is called a "module", it isn't connected to the CAN network in the normal way and therefore it doesn't participate in CAN discussions.
Instead, J740 is a self-contained, totally-independent module. This means that you won't be able to access this module via OBD11 (and it doesn't have "coding" in the normal sense for CAN based modules).
here's where J740 is normally installed (picture for RHD mk7.5)
