Hello Everyone,

I would like to ask about possibility of Activation Start Stop System Status menu. I have Passat MY2023. My previous version from 2017 had also additional menu which informed me about reasons of system deactivation. In the new car and also in many movies in the YouTube with cars >2019Y I didn’t see such menu.

In order to activate it I tried below coding

STG 5F - System infortaiment
Adaptation

Car menu list
Menu Display Start Stop reasons —> Active
Menu Display Start Stop reasons over threshold high—> Active

Car, Function List
Start Stop reasons 0x27 —> Active
Start Stop reasons 0x27 msg BUS —> CAN_Comfort / CAN_Extended / CAN_Infortainment

Finally I managed to activate additional menu in the CAR Status display, however it was blank. After performing AutoScan I discover a lot of CAN BUS errors in the 5F module. In order to solve it I tried to find appropriate msg BUS. I tried with CAN_Comfort / CAN_Extended / CAN_Infortainment. In every time
StartStop menu was empty and CAN errors were present after AutoScan.

I checked backup of my Passat from 2017y there was CAN_Infortaiment and was working fine.

In order to cleanup this messy in the new car I returned back original coding and now AutoScan is clear, but I have impression that there was very close to success

again activate yours then do same activations for efficiency assist but select comfort data bus for all of them. you can see start-stop status when you click small info button on CAR menu, but you can not turn on or off start-stop using multimedia. maybe changing comfort data bus solve this problem but i dont need that so i did not try.

Is someone suggesting in this thread that SS can be (or rather "should be" ) fitted to a car that is factory built without SS by simply making some coding changes? I hope not!

At least on MQB platform cars (like the Passat B8) physical/electrical enhancements are made to the car's components when SS is factory fitted. Stuff like reinforced crank teeth on the flywheel, more robust starter motor and the installation of a special battery monitor module on the negative battery terminal to facilitate regenerative braking.

If ONLY coding changes are made to a car that isn't fitted with SS equipment - and if the coding changes actually work (umlikely - I think) - how can the sub-standard equipment tolerate the additional demands of stop start without premature failure?

Isn't it quite demeaning words for a possible misunderstanding situation?

Anyway, i am not talking about building SS from scratch. In my opinion, the main topic is start stop “reasons”.

If I need to be more descriptive, the car has a start stop but some mib3 units doesnt have a menu which list why SS not working in that time (seat belt, battery power, steering wheel angle…).

In this thread, mentioned that this menu does not exist. I gived a solution just for this.

I was playing with this after publication of my first approach to the issue. Let me write steps below:

Start Stop reasons 0x27 —> Active

Efficiency Assists 0x3c —> Active
Efficiency Assists msg bus —> CAN Comfort

3rd approach - Failed
I wanted to check and troubleshoot what exactly start generating errors on the communication BUS:

Car, Function List
Efficiency Assists msg bus —> CAN Comfort - AutoScan clear
Efficiency Assists 0x3c —> Active - U111000 error active

Once I discovered it I just surrendered. In principle in all cases StartStop reasons menu has appeared but was blank completely. I remember that the StartStop Function button appeared there as well and was not working at all…
Once you respond to my post I started thinking about it again and maybe I should perform Radio Reset after changing of CAN BUS type every time - via press Power - 10s … Maybe, but I don’t think so…

adg… do you have Passat B8FL ??

whataboutthis: le4dsoldier if you have a pre 2024 VAG motor that is supported and you have the Pro or Ultimate license you can code Adaptions and long Coding but after 2024 SFD2 STOPS YOU. SFD Can be unlocked but basic plan only allows you to use OCA Nov 21, 2024 16:52:53 GMT
