Hi All,
I've just moved from VW to BMW and assumed I could use my OBD Eleven Next Gen device in my 335d F30.
When I plug the device into the OBD port on the F30, the light round the device pulses red, never goes full red.
When I tap connect in the OBD app, the device does not show.
Anyone any ideas what's going on here?

So the F30 is supported.
Secondly I presume you have next gen dongle (as First Gen (white one)does not work) sorry you already said that
Thirdly are you using the OBDELEVEN BMW App

Yes I downloaded the BMW app.
Yes its the Next Gen device, black one, with the light surround.
Something I noticed is the ring light surrounding the device doesn't light up solid red, it pulses red on and off.

I presume no error messages, have you tried it on a VAG car to see if it still works.

Yup, been using it on my Golf R 7.5 for about a year.
Did a scan just before I traded in the car last week.

The only things i can suggest are disconnect all your bluetooth devices and only use the connection to OBD11 (Paying attention to disengage the car radio system).
Go into Device menu and delete the dongle and start all over again
If you are using android then do a cache clear (although as this is first time It should not be a problem.
Otherwise contact support directly via in app help function.

I did try this but nothing worked.
Currently in a support chat with OBD 11 Techs, they can't work it out either.

So OBD Eleven themselves are at a loss as to why the device wont connect to the BMW app, we have tried various fixes, but none worked.
And basically they have left it at that, no further support. They created a ticket, and said if we ever find a solution, we'll let you know.
So they have left me stuck with a device I paid for, that does not work as intended, and that's it.

Wow that is poor, ok one other suggestion do you have any other bluetooth dongles (like ELM327) or caristaapp etc that you can plug in just to double check its not the OBD2 Socket causing the issue.

I thought it might be the socket, but, If I start up the VAG app, and tap connect, the ODB eleven next gen device shows up straight away.
If I try to connect, it says you need to use the BMW app. Go to the BMW app and tap connect, nothing, stays at the scanning phase and no devices show up.
I've even tried a completely different phone, factory reset, install BMW app, tap connect, still nothing.

No don't have IOS device, but tried Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy S21. Both see the device in VAG app, but not BMW app.
