Hoping someone can help, I’m retrofitting front heated seats that are all genuine in the next week or so. I did the same thing in my 2019 polo GTI and coded it , the way todo it on that car is as below.
-control unit 09 -adaptation -typ in: heated seat OR stoelverwarming OR sitzheitzung -press: Sitzheitzung_CAN set it from: not avalable to: Seat heater on LIN
but it seems different for the golf and I can’t figure it out. I just wanted a better understanding before I start the job. Does anyone know how todo it? I’m thinking it’s under the long coding but I’m not 100% sure.
Hoping someone can help
Thank you!

tylerbebbo : Hmm......... I'm not sure about the MY19 Polo GTI- but the front seat heating on a mk7 Golf is neither CAN, nor is it LIN based - instead, it's a "dumb" set of wires that are directly connected to the module that OBD11 calls central electrics (the module lives @ address hex09 on the CAN network).
Before you start the project, meaning prior to spending ANY money - I suggest that you FIRST eyeball the relevant sockets on the central electrics module. Not all modules are seat heater compatible and it's important to confirm that your existing hex09 module has the actual pins for the front seat heater populated. If these pins are mussing - changing the module is not a trivial exercise (because of Component Protection errors)
So, as for your specific question, the software switches for front seat heating is on Byte 3, Bit 2=1, Bit1 =0, Bit 0 = 0 if your module is the older type that has an active long code string
If your car has the newer central electric module without an active long-code string, the channel for seat heating is:
- IDE06089-ENG141976-Seat heater level current consumption allocation-Sitzheitzung_CAN > Heizmatten am BCM
