I was scrolling my my Golf backup log history. I have keyless access, so locks open when I am next to front doors. I found something: Automatische_Funktionen: Automatisches_Entriegeln_aktiv: activated Automatisches_Verriegeln_aktiv: Not activated -> changed to activated AutomatischeFunktionen_Beschleunigtes_Entry_aktiv: activated Automatik_Funktionen_Warnungen_aktiv: Not activated Automatik_Funktionen_WarnungWenn_AusserhalbExitBereich_aktiv: Not activated AutomatikFunktionen_WarnungWenn_VerlassenBeiHautNichtGeschlossen_aktiv: Not activated Then I found a new item on central locking menu, where I could turn walk-away lock on But it will not working. Locks stay open
I tried another coding: DevCod_Automatische_Verriegelung: Terminal 15, behavior of the automatic locking function: Function only allowed for terminal 15 off AutomatikFunktionen_Sonderfall_ZyklischeSucheBeiKlemme15_aktiv: not_activated AutomatikFunktionen_HVLaden_EigenerBereich_aktiv: Not activated -> activated Automatische_FunktionBeiAnnaeherung_Entfernung_aktiv: activated No, it will not work

Yep. You get the menu item, but no function, that is my observation, too. It is either a function, which has been prepared but not finished in the development process or something in the very deeps of the datasets is missing.

I remember my car always having the menu item but it just never working lol. At least I’m not the only one with the issue. Originally I thought it was a setting that controlled a completely different function and they just did a horrible job at naming it.

Yep. Looks like activating adaption only controls if this menu item is shown, but there is no algorithm behind it or something else blocks it.
The German text is similar to the working proximity unlocking, so I would assume that proximity locking should do the opposite, but as said, has no effect

There is a translation error in the menu. English "Unlock vehicle when approaching" I found this code could be this line of code. DevCod_Automatische_Verriegelung Automatische_FunktionBeiAnnaeherung_Entfernung_aktiv
While this menu is inactive, the doors are unlocked when approaching the vehicle with the key.

There is no translation or logic error. But, there is a bug or misconfiguration from factory in PSO2 (Personalisation). This setting is credit by the multi user personalisation, so each user plus the guest profile can have their own setting. When this bug kicks in, various settings, including this are either taken from another user or the guest profile. So deactivating it for all users including the guest should work.
My suggested approach for this is to disable the automatic key->user assignment when using any proximity triggered function, let alone if there is only the main user activated in the car.

Someone got this enabled on the MK8 GTI and posted a video on the Facebook discussion forum, but was using Odis. But you would think that the back-end coding and menu activation would also be possible in OBD11…

yes it was Antony in the US. I have seen it too. So it is possible to do.

Can someone link it? Just curious because I would love to have this done. Had this mod done on my Jetta

The way i understand it is this is only possible on My23 Golf 8 because of the newer control units like B7 Keyless with software 725 and maybe also the newer 09 Central electric.

I had tried the instructions above on my 23 GTI but did not work. So either some other code is missing, or something needs to be flashed?

Would you be able to post instructions for it?

Unfortunately not as it requires some backend stuff that can’t be done with OBD11

What? In what which country? The only time mine automatically locks when I walk away from it is if it was locked, I walk up to it and it unlocks, and I then walk away without interacting with the car at all.

Yes. That setting is "lock automatically " I've been playing with this. Unfortunately if you were driving, stop, the car unlocks if you pull the door handle or put it in park, this feature doesn't lock it.

That is not "walk away" -lock. It should lock doors when you leave (~5-10 meters) away from your car. Attachments:

Hi guys, I've just tested this feature on SK Octavia NX (2022) after applying the coding from this thread. My car didn't automatically lock when leaving(walk away 10-20m around the corner to make sure the key is no longer in range), BUT it did unlock on approaching the driver door/deck lid. B7 module software 725 09 module software 175

"Unlock when approaching" is normal feature from factory with "keyless go". I am using it all the time.

That is not "walk away" -lock. It should lock doors when you leave (~5-10 meters) away from your car. Isn't that the same thing? I was confused about the operation. This might be what is happening: If you unlock your doors with the keyfob it will lock them after X amount of time. However the unlock mechanism when you turn the car off doesn't count. So if you drive somewhere, stop, get out, then walk away it won't lock because you didn't issue the unlock command the car did. I THINK this is what is happening.

It is not same. Automatic relock after press unlock button in 30 seconds coming from 1990 vw cars "Auto lock" -option will lock car doors when driving. "Lock vehicle when leaving" will lock car without touch your key at all. Just get out from car and "walk away" It is not possible code it with obdeleven. User mintfotog knows the way...

So yes it’s possible. Is it worth it? Absolutely not. It’s super inconsistent on these cars. I think it works maybe 1/3 of the time. One of the people on the FB Mk8 groups just came to me for some retrofits/coding work and even he can confirm that it only worked like once or twice maybe lol. It’s as if you have to be holding the key pointing at it while walking backwards for it to realize “oh he’s walking away the the key is out of range so lock now”. The same goes for the switch on when approaching for the lights. Sometimes it goes off on its own when you’re in your house and sometimes it just doesn’t go off at all when walking up.

I can absolutely confirm that, I have released the coding for the Formentor, with the note that it is super inconsistent. Only if you approach slowly, no interference (eg pants pocket / cell phone) is present, then it works.

Can you please post Software Versions of 09 and B7 where this worked?
Also I am curious if you are having Safelock (Interior door handles are disabled when the car is locked, typically bundled with alarm in countries where it is allowed).
Besides that HMIMenue Aktivierung which is not avaliable in my car, that was my coding for testing and it did not work. 5WA937086F 0159 5WA959436C 0706 With Safelock
