Dongle will pair but won't connect after inputing "123456" code... green light comes on solid, flashes a little bit, solid for a second then goes away, yellow comes on, green flickers and goes away followed by "can't connect", 'continue' & 'try again'... I have downloaded BT app to make stronger connection to no avail.. I have reinstalled numerous times, nothing.. I have created acc via email & via FB no luck.. I have tried on 3 different devices, Samsung, HTC, RCA, completely stumped!! I really want this device someone please help as I have reached out to obdeleven this morning and have gotten no response from them yet... I need this to help get my car back on road PLEASE HELP!! Thx in advanced!

OK Lets see if we can help. All your android devices must be running Android version 4,1 or latter (yes i know you have checked this but please double check) Firstly are you using the pro version or just a normal one, if pro have you entered your activation code and if so was it via your email or FB account. Secondly how did you reach out to support (just so we can ping them to try and help) Thirdly (and yes I know you have done this all before but please try again) go into application manager and firstly clear the data, then clear cache, then uninstall. Now re download the app from play store, once it has been installed then go to your car (Remember your android device must have good network or wifi connection) and install the dongle. From your android device turn off both Bluetooth and Wifi/Mobile Data count to 10 and then turn them back on. Turn on the ignition and ensure your door is closed (I never do but that is the way its supposed to work) T o ensure it works faster you should pair your android device with dongle the password is 1234 not 123456
The dongle should be showing you a yellow light with a red one at the back this is expected and is telling you device is getting power from the car.
Now from the app hit the connect button and tell us what happens please and if it dont work screen shots if possible
One other thing have a quick read of this posting obdeleven.proboards.com/post/7102 as the guy here had a way of connecting that seems to work for some people.
Hope this helps but either way let us know.

Followed all steps listed above, still failed... here is a video, the light turns green then flickers out, then solid green again (where video starts), then goes out.. I don't know how to post pics on here, typical error message "please make sure ignition key is turned blah blah" I contacted them via app 2 days ago..

Just been out to my car to double check what it looks like: Ignition on , dongle in. Status on the OBD11 Screen is showing as Not Connected (bottom left) and action is Connect I hit Connect and bot Status and Actions show Connecting Once i have connected the status changes to Connected and Action to Scan and my dongle whilst flashing green for a little while now looks like this (green light flashed while connecting then goes out but it still works. If your ignition is off you will get a warning message - Turn on ignition. If it cant find the dongle you get warning message - cant find the dongle I am afraid if you still get the cant connect try again error then its back to support as it sounds like your dongle is not working as expected and point them at this thread to help them understand what you have done. Also just a quick double check did you try the quick fix here obdeleven.proboards.com/post/7102 as that does work for some. Also just seen this posting obdeleven.proboards.com/post/7345 where the user had to pair the device each time they use it.

Having exactly the same problem, after sale service is horrible, was told to send the dongle back to them so they can test it, I live in South Africa, postage from here to them is a quarter of the value of the dongle. My opinion OBDeleven might be a good product to some, to me it's a piece of #%*^

Barend Sorry it does not work for you but for me this device has been very handy and a lot cheeper than some of the other options.
One last question for you have you tried it on another car or using somebody elses phone just to double check.

I had a similar problem today but it got sorted. Everything worked perfectly on my 2016 Gof R. Then I tried it on my 2005 Jetta/Bora and all I got was "Connecting" going round and round forever. I'm using an Android tablet that has no internet access when it isn't on wifi. As soon as I connected the tablet to my phone's hotspot, the connection completed and everything worked. I believe (but I could be wrong here) that on the very first connection the software tries to access the vehicle database (remote?) and if it can't, then it gets stuck at the point of "Connecting". My Golf is in our garage so the tablet had wifi there. The Jetta/Bora is parked on the road with no access to wifi.

Thanks for the info i have raised this in the request section as a Bluetooth failure warns you and makes you turn it on but WIFI/Mobile Data does not.

I have been trying for the past 3 days to get this working. Phone: PixelXL running android 7.1 Licence : Pro
Phone pairs perfectly with dongle. Pressed connect - circle & circle and doesnt connect with car.
Uninstalled the app - cleared cache etc
Reinstalled app. Paired again
Same thing - circle circle - doesnt connect to car
Also I tried to manually insert my VIN - the app doesnt recognize my car Passat b8

natzakaria, firstly I have seen on the web that the PixelXL has had some bluetooth issues but fix has been released are you up to date on all your updates. Secondly when you are connecting do you have strong internet turned on as there is no error message but it just sits trying to connect and does nothing. Re VIN there are a number of online VIN Code checkers www.vindecoderz.com/EN/Volkswagen/PASSAT and www.research.com/vindecoder/vindecode-land.php check your vin and make sure its shown on the web, then contact support and i am sure they can update there database with the code. What colour lights do you have showing on your dongle when ignition is on and are you getting any error messages. Have you tried connecting with another phone/tablet or on another vehicle (just to confirm where the issue lies).

I have decent 50mbps wifi connection in my car from the 3 wifi extenders in my house. Both sites you listed does not detect my VIN but vindecoder.eu/volkswagen (you gave from another thread) detects it. When first connected dongle was red then when I hit connect on the app it flickers with orange and then green rapidly before turning red again and app shows not connected. I have tried using the HTC m8 and its the same issue.

Thanks for answers. OK The PixelXL issue was dropping connection but you have tried with another phone and same issue so sounds like Dongle Issue. Contact Support via the app or support site and they will try and sort it or agree you return the dongle for a new one. Re VIN Number just proves how many different databases there are for this stuff so again advise support and they should be able to add it in. Cheers.

Looks like this was sorted. But for those who stumble across this and may not know about about poor aftermarket radio wiring causing this, it's worth a google search. When I bought my golf and obdeleven that was the source of my connection woes.

My device can not be connected. I have been using it for 2 years without any issue until recent updates. Was able to use it 3 days ago and now stopped connecting. no LED light when plugged into the car.

Now the device can not be connected, no lights at all when plug-in, but it is getting warm. Nothing wrong with the phone, tried different phones, still not successful.

I think I figured it out I had the same problem. When I turn on GPS on my phone it works. You need to have GPS turned on. You need to turn on Location History for your Google account. And make sure the app has all the permissions on the phone

From memory you need to have location turned on but I certainly don't have to have location history turned on (mine is set to Pause).

I'm using a Google pixel 6 pro android and next gen OBDeleven on 2019 Audi SQ5. First time it connected and let me open pistons for brake replacement. When I finished I tried to connect and close the pistons for 30 minutes before giving up. App will say connecting for several minutes then says make sure ignition is on, and it always is. I close the app try again, same thing, sometimes it will connect and just says working for several minutes and nothing happens. At one point I was even able to buy credits to continue with closing brakes but then it said the option wasn't supported so I closed the app to try again, same endless cycle of connecting. I have not moved the car so wifi etc shouldn't be the issue. I really need to close the brake pistons, please help.
