dw : Thanks for the PM - but as I request on the signature to my posts, I prefer to have these discussions in the forum proper! First, lets talk about terminology: turning-ON the exterior lights when locking is called "Coming Home" (CH) and when unlocking, it's called "Leaving Home (LH). Both of these functions are controlled by the hex09 module if an OEM light-sensor is used
So, what exactly do you mean by the words "installed a light switch with light sensor"? Did you actually install OEM equipment (meaning the OEM light-sensor that's attached to the windshield and that is a LIN slave module to the central electrics module), or did you install the Chinese version light-sensor that plugs into the back of the rotary light switch? If the latter - then I suspect the behavior that you describe is a function of the non-OEM sensor-switch arrangement because CH and LH functions are NOT controlled by the hex09 module. Instead on these Chinese sensor-switches, CH/LH is controlled by the rotary light switch, itself) Again, if the latter - I guess that you could try setting up the CH function on the hex09 module as if OEM equipment was used - but I don't believe that this will work.
Anyhow, if you want to try - do this (again, I don't believe this will work):
I'm not sure which version hex09 module is on your mk7 - there are 2 x possibilities: the CH/LH adaptation channels are either grouped under the common "parent name" Comfort illumination, or Außenlicht_uebergreifend. So - search for either of these names in Adaptation in Central electrics module
Here are the channel settings:
CH/LH - General settings
- Comfort illumination/Außenlicht_uebergreifend-Menueeinstellung CHO
LHO > Menuesteuerung aktivieren (this places a switch in the MENU for the CH/LH function- make sure that this software switch is enabled) - Light sensor-Einschaltgrenze_CHO_LHO > 600 lx (this sets the twilight light-level threshold for CH/LH)
LH settings Comfort illumination/Außenlicht_uebergreifend
- Leaving-Home Verbausstatus > Enabled
- Menueeinstellung Leaving-home Zeit per BAP > 60 seconds (this sets the on-time for LH in MENU)
- Menuesteuerung Leaving-home Freischaltung per BAP > active
CH settings Comfort illumination/Außenlicht_uebergreifend- Coming Home Leuchten > Low beam
- Coming Home Verbaustatus > automatic
- Coming-home Einschaltereignis > Driver door
- Menueeinstellung Cominghome > 20 seconds (this sets the on-time for CH in MENU)
- Menuesteuerung Coming Home Werkseinstellung > active

I do indeed have the Chinese version light-sensor that plugs into the back of the rotary light switch. I'm going to look in the central electric, take pictures of it

turned on everything on behalf of the Light sensor-Einschaltgrenze_CHO_LHO > 600 lx (this sets the twilight light-level threshold for CH/LH) I can't find it here under photos of settings now auto menu now ch/lh only indicates that function is not available when i unlock the car the lights come on when i lock car the lights don't always come on but occasionally, seems like when I turned the light switch, then close again and open the car, then the lighting will work as above dylan

Dylan: Thanks for the detailed results -alas, it's as I suspected!!
As I said, these Chinese combined sensor-switches have their own logic that's different from the CH/LH functionality that happens when the light-sensor is wired into the central electrics module (which is the OEM arrangement). Not sure that there is much that can be done.
How important is the fact that the license-plate and inner-tails don't illuminate for the CH function? If this is a big problem, you could try another version of Chinese switch, or you could install an OEM light-sensor into the car's native wiring loom.
