I have a 2015 golf that originally came with all halogen lights. I have switched over to led bulbs without issues but when I came to the headlights I’ve hit a wall. I replaced the low beams with leds that were designed to directly replace the stock halogens but they won’t turn on at all. I have turned off the error code by directing the ecm to search for an led bulb but still nothing turns on. All other lights are unaffected.

kelly: Hi Some very cofusing words in your post makes it difficult (for me) to understand. So, you fitted LED bulbs into the halogen lamp base for the headlight - is this correct? And what exactly do you mean when you say- "I have turned off the error code by directing the ecm to search for an led bulb"? generally, "ecm" means Engine Control Module - but the ecm doesn't manage the headlights on a mk7 - the module @ address hex09 does this! Please specify in more words how you "turned-off the error message"? And also provide details of the retrofitted LED bulbs-please Don

Sorry Don it’s been a long frustrating day and I might have mixed up some words on ya.
First off I installed h7 led bulbs into the stock halogen headlight housings. These h7 bulbs are supposed to be an error free bulb and don’t require rewiring they just twist into the sockets. Basically a plug and play design. They threw an error code on the dash so I used the app in OBDeleven that is; Bulb diagnostics: low beam front lights. It cleared the codes but they still wouldn’t turn on.

kelly : hmm........ it's always very difficult to diagnose these after-market equipment issues because they are non-OEM (by definition)! I'm guessing of course - but if this was my car, I would check the values in Leuchte6ABL LC5 (left-side bulb) and Leuchte7ABL RB1 (right-side bulb)
Navigate to adaptation in the central electrics module to find these Leuchte-sets.
Try changing to these settings (I assume that you have a PRO account):
- Lasttyp > 5 LED Abblendlicht
- Dimmwert AB > 127

Thank you very much Don this worked perfect. For some reason it was not set to LED and the value was set to 100. Made those changes and it worked like a charm. I really appreciate your help dude. Keep up the excellent work.

Hi,
Nether of these worked on my 2015 1.6 TDI. I get the response "unavailable" - I've have tried 3 sets of supposed "Canbus error free" bulbs (not the cheap ebay types) they all work (as in produce light), but after clearing the fault on the dash, it always comes back after a day or so. Updating as suggested in adaptation doesn't work for me.
Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

aft4b : Hi. As I have said in my reply above, non-OEM after-market lamps have unknown designs, they have varying manufacture methods and they have indeterminate operating characteristic. And alas, price is not always an indication of their compatibility with the electrical properties of the Leuchte-sets in the central electrics module (which is mostly about Pulse Width Modulation frequency)!
Rather than a wild guess as a suggestion - I prefer to know more about this car and the aftermarket lamps.
So, I assume that this MY15 mk7 was also built with halogen headlights and that these lamps were installed in the low-beam positions? If so, post-up a link to the lamps (so I can see their electrical characteristics) and also post-up a copy of the settings for Leuchte6ABL LC5 on this car. To be clear, I need to see the values for ALL 19 x adaptation channels in your pictures!
Finally, what is the exact fault message that you get on the SCAN report and what country?
Don
