Looks like a new feature in 2023 model year:
Hope this can be coded in to existing models (if there is no update from VW)!

Needs the new firmware/software+datasets first shipped with my23 on various control modules. And to be honest: If you do not have the files at your fingertips, it is not worth to pay some shady "hacker" for it.

I guess we will wait to see once the MY23 models are out in the wild, hopefully someone can dump the files After watching the video with translated subtitle it seems VW won't offer an OTA for this as they claim it requires a different front camera, though I have my doubts as the ID cars have the same camera from what I have seen and they have had this feature for ages. Seems someone did managed to code this in a year ago now, but I can find no additional information

While the MFK3 (MQBw) and MFK4.0 (ID3 without IPA and aSWA) share the same camera in hardware, the software for both cars is different (different architecture, probably different feature sets since aSWA was never possible for cars without IPA on MEB)
meich - the publisher of this video - claimed that there was no hardware change in that car, but several software updates which where not availiable for the public. According to some sources, there has been a bigger change with MY23 (MY21 and 22 shared the same part number for those 3) ACC 5WA907572C (previously index B) PLA 5R3919298 (but also some indications that there is still 5WA919298 used and possible, as 5R3 indicates a manufacturer change) MFK 5WA980653D (previously index C)
meich never disclosed which exact software was used for that car. vag-flashinfo does not show any of the recent software versions. Also, keep in mind that both the ACC and MFK have got a more sophisticated software architecture with loaders and software packages, while the MFK2 and MRR14 had one "fire and pray" software package.
Regarding OTA: MFK and ACC were never ment for OTA updates and are updating slow and painful, even with recent ODIS and VAS6154. And since there will be more software versions included in the road safety check of that feature, I doubt that an "smaller" OTA would do trick for VW and the needed regulations.

Hi Newty, thank you for the detailed info! So basically multiple modules will need new software updates and these aren't just small patches? I guess that makes sense why it won't come OTA from VW then, perhaps there is a slim chance for the future with an update when at the dealers but I won't hold on to my breath haha. It's a shame as travel assist is really great but misses this comfort feature on my MY22

Yep, correct, there is no OTA procedure for this and will never be in the Golf. In any case, that would need to be a workshop update taking some hours, probably turning the car completely upside down software-wise.
But yes, it is a cool feature, but nothing to fancy. Works well with little traffic, but with "medium" european traffic you are scratching its limits, as it will change lanes way to slow on its own. You can make a lane change faster yourself with the assistant active, using it as a SideAssist++, keeping the turn signal on until you are merged, but thats it.

Thanks for confirming Yes very true, particularly in a Golf R, you can be very quick to pull into a tight space on a busy road and not upset other road users! I have mostly been driving with travel assist on motorways and thankfully it does allow throttle override if you need it. I have found just pulling out with no throttle input means it is quite slow to react and accelerate up to the set speed.

Hello! I am a new user, but I have been reading this forum for a long time.
I came to this thread because I am trying to find out what is happening with this feature.
It seems that it was added to MY2022 models manufactured late, which included Travel Assist and Side Assist. My owner's manual, dated June 2022, mentions this functionality under Travel Assist. However, it appears to have been reverted later on, as a YouTube user commented on the video from the first post that he had the feature, but lost it after an update. Now, it seems to be kept only for models with Travel Assist, Side Assist, and Park Assist, as the owner's manual from November 2022 mentions all three systems.
Does anyone have more information to help clarify things and see if there is a way to enable it again?

I activated this feature on the Golf 8 2021 model year. Requirements: Side Assist, Park Pilot, Travel Assist. You need to update the assistant camera to version "D" and firmware no lower than 3403 + a new set of data.

Manuals are always "all you could buy" and not tailored to your car at all.
For the assisted lane change travel, side and park assist are mandatory.
And of course a software recent enough. A lot of indications were posted here.
I cannot see how the feature got lost in an update. There is no update I am aware of which could have that impact

Thank you very much for the replies! Now everything is clear in terms of what this feature needs in order to operate. The most important is Park Assist as the last version of owner manual refers.

There is no update I am aware of which could have that impact Hi, I have a Cupra Formentor My22 with all the ADAS systems and I would like to activate the lane change like you did; How do I recover the data file to upgrade the A5 drive? I can't even use the ones you used which I think would burn the a5 unit even if apparently the components seem identical. What do you recommend I do to recover the data file?

Know somebody who knows somebody who has access to these files. And somebody with ODIS-E to flash them. As far as I know, the right flashfiles are not avaliable anywhere public. So are the datasets, which should match the version of the flashfiles exactly.

Maybe we should stop the advertising show for a non-Voltas Product - with very doubtful sources of binaries - right here, dont you think?
