Hello,
any chance we we can figure out how to get the gear display to show up in the DIS in D/S just like it shows in M mode?
for instance he older A3, A4's had the adaptation in the trans module, it doesn't appear to be there in the 8V.
I miss the ability to see what gear I'm in at all times (D1, D2, S1,S2 etc...)

cupra: My understanding of this matter is that it is MQB platform related - so, the same issue arises in a number of incarnations of MQB vehicles (albeit the gear number is displayed in some market versions, and it is absent in other markets -I have no idea why).
Anyhow, there's been lots, and lots of chats (mostly from owners of NAR models) on various forums about the absence of the gear number in their cars and the prevailing wisdom is that the function is enabled/disabled in the module firmware - it's not something that is accessible via an adaptation channel (the module @ address hex02 has either no adaptation channels, or the newer modules only have a few channels), or via the module code-string (regardless of whether the gear number is, or isn't present, the module code remains the same - on Golf mk7s it's hex0014).
This means (alas) that problem can't be fixed with VCDS, or OBD11. Perhaps a VCP cable can make the necessary changes, but I've yet to see any information regarding which part of the firmware to alter. Happy for anyone here to advise which memory locations in the firmware to change, and to what values - please
Don

Hey Alex, The only way I could get it set to see D1/S1, D2/S2, etc. on my 2016 A3 8V was to get the Unitronic Stage 1+ tune.
It's runs fabulous and can see the gears in all drivung modes!
