Dear all, is it possible to get information about the release note for a software update of a module/gateway? It is nerve-wracking to know that there is a new release available and Not knowing which are the bugs fixes or improvements Thank you for your replies

All well preserved in VWs engineering and not for the public.
Updating them is also an entirely different problem.

It can be done by over the air by you, or if you have an update file (very hard to get). but if you do it yourself by update file offline, an SVM will need to be performed so in VW’s database they see your version is up to date and acknowledged in their database, otherwise it can void warranty, and block you from receiving future over the air updates until it’s done. Offline updates are recommended to be done by dealer to avoid those issues, and some updates, depending on how big they are must be done offline and won’t be offered over the air which was my case going from version 1880 to 1890. Huge update that couldn’t be done OTA.

Mostly yes, but: There are Over the air updates for the infotainment, starting with Version 1788. You can not force this update, VWs decides who and when. Is is only the Infotainment which can be updated this way, all other updates need to be done wired. VWs practice here is to provide a code for the workshop and some very clear instruction how to do this update. They do not really come in touch with files being flashed, the datasets uploaded and so on. It is ment to be as easy as it can be.
There are two tools of being able to flash as you like, one is VCP, the other is ODIS Engineering. While VCP can be bought for some hundered Euros, ODIS E is limited to engineers having a contract with VW (and does not come cheap, original VAS Dongles are pricy, let alone the license). You can surely pay some sketchy guy to obtain a cracked and backdoor-infested ODIS-E, but that is not any recommended practice at all.
The other fact is that it is incredibly hard to obtain software flash files for MQBw-Cars. You will need the software itself and also a dataset matching your car and your software.
But lets say you could help yourself for this: Flashing with VCP takes an enormous amount of patience. Be ready to spend hours flashing, charging and praying with VCP. It cannot use Can-FD or Ethernet. ODIS-E is much quicker, using Can-FD and Ethernet, but as said - there are little to no valid sources.
SVM is not that much of a deal, since with MQBw, the servers are more tolerant against updated software without documentation. You only need to stick to software used in the car - which you are likely doing without having insiders risking their careers.
TLDR: Updates are workshop or OTA business.
