So, unfortunately, I’m one of the poor souls that got a 2022 GTI with hardware H56 which is the slow chipset, whereas VW rolled out a new chipset part H58. Would I be able to retrofit it by having one of the parts below ordered? I’m gonna try fighting VW to have it done under warranty (likely won’t happen) because I’m starting to get software-related errors causing some features to not function because there are many issues related to this lackluster chip.

How exactly do you know if you have the slower chipset PN?

On infotainment
Settings > system information > Hardware (H56 is the old slower chipset, H58 is the faster revamped chipset VW is releasing on newer vehicles)

I was thinking the same as you, but as far as I know (and confirmed by the local VW Dealer) the parts will be replaced like for like (so if you have H56 it will be replaced with H56). I told them that I will put 30V instead of 12V for the power supply of the head unit in order to be replaced, they laughed. I didn't

Honestly, VW should make this a recall. Such a lackluster part that causes so many critical issues

I know about VWs press release stating that H58 is newer hardware. Some valuables sources and common sense with VW part numbers indicate that this is false information. No need to fry control units for this.

Also right now I'm on update 1880 and am getting no OTA notification to install the new on 1896 and getting my dealer to do it for me is like pulling teeth because they keep saying I don't have any updates when I clearly am behind. Literally sat in a showroom model that is on 1896, and from what I hear 1896 solves a myriad of issues in regards to errors and optimization

I didn't I just asked my dealer, they said if the go to fixes don’t work, they believe they can do the repair and under warranty since it’s considered hardware underperforming and not functioning as intended.

I checked my car and I have the H58 and have had nothing but issues since purchasing the car. XM doesn't fully work, the adaptive cruise stops working for no reason at all which requires you to stop turn the vehicle off and do a full reboot of the system. Not sure the H58 fixes much I am on SW version 1896.

That’s actually really strange considering you have the new chipset and software that’s supposed to resolve all that 🤔

That is bogus - sounds like something your dealer should be able to fix or at least point out for warranty.
Either way: there is no new chipset, just some minor changes
