Hey Guys,
I was wondering could someone help me with issue.
I have a 2015 Mk7 Golf R (manual) (stage 1). I have performed various tweaks on my car using OBDeleven such as soundaktor disable, Audi engine response, exhaust flaps open and many more. I love how easy it is to customise the Golf with this tool.
One of the things that I have noticed is, when I select Race mode, I can hear audible burbles from the exhaust system. I initially thought this was because the exhaust flaps were disabled and the sound could be heard better. But then I discovered if I turn off the ignition and then back on again, the burbles are gone! The only way they return is if I select a mode which is race (individual or race) and they return. This lead me to believe the exhaust flaps weren’t deactivated correctly. I went to a friend’s house who works for Volkswagen and we put my R onto a ramp. We turned the ignition on and selected race mode so that the burbles were heard. Once they we confirmed the burbles were there, we manually disconnected the power cables to the flappers while the car was on and then turned off ignition. When we turned on the ignition we expected the burbles to remain, but they didn’t!!
I then thought, is this something added when I had my car tuned to stage one. I contacted the tuner and explained the situation and they confirmed that they done nothing on the exhaust system when tuning the car. It was a custom map for my engine only.
So the plot thickens… why is the burbles not remaining when i power on the ignition as the exhaust flaps are open and Race is still selected !?
I am now wondering, is there coding that can be done which auto selects Race when the ignition is powered on so that the burbles remain on the exhaust. Or is there another tweak that can be done to do this?
I’m completely baffled as was my mechanic friend.
If anyone can shed some light on this or share a tweak, I would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry for the long thread, but needed to get the message across.
Thanks I’m advance
Chris
