nikos1 : Hi and thanks for the PM. I'm not familiar with the tail-light arrangement on a mk2 FL Tiggy - but isn't the position in your yellow circle the brake light (I'm guessing). The reason why I'm suggesting that it's the Brake lights is because in your screenshots of the error details on the left and right car-side says that the only lighting function that was operational at the time of the fault was "Bremslicht" (both the hardware brake function and the CAN brake function). Doesn't this strongly suggest that the error message is related to the lighting function for the Brake activity? So here's the thing if my deduction is correct - the mechanism that turns-on the Brake-lights on modern vehicles is very, very special because of safety reasons. From a coding perspective, the Brake activity is communicated to lots of control modules via CAN messages. This CAN based brake function is translated into Leuchte-set values in the central electrics module. The Brake Leuchte-sets are: - Leuchte20BR LA71 - Brake light, left
- Leuchte21BR RC8 - Brake light, right
However, there is also a separate path for the Brake lights that is hardware based. For example, there is usually a connection between the ECU (the module @ address hex01) and the brake lights that turns-on the lamp if the module is disconnected. This is a fail-safe mechanism in the event of instances like a crash! If you look at the fault detail screens, you will see these two separate Bremslicht functions. If this car has not had any coding modifications (and again assuming that these are the brake lights) - my hunch (guess, really) is that this is problem with the Brake hardware function. My hunch is further reinforced by the fact that the fault appears on both the left and right side lamps at the same time. If this was my car - I would be checking the integrity of the physical connections and the wires for the hardware Brake function (between the ECU and the central electrics module- maybe)
But again - I'm guessing, especially since I don't have access to a wiring diagram for your car!
Don

Dear Don, Thank you for your immediate answer, the brake lights are the one on green cycle, to be honest I haven't check yet, when the error occurs if the brake lights on the external lights works or not. The only thing that occur for sure is that the external lights are off. Next time that the error occur I will take a look. Today the error didn't occur everything worked fine. Usually happens when I go on my garage dark space on Sunny condition. Lights are full matrix in case that matters.

Hi Nikos1,
Did you ever have this error again and how did you resolve it with the dealership?
I just took delivery of a 2023 Tiguan R Line with the full matrix light package. Noticed exactly the error as you on the dashboard in dark spaces or the nights from the first day - dashboard says check rear left tail lights. During the day time, no error appears.
Similar to you, the error is limited to the outer parts of left back lights.
Looking forward to your feedback.
Cheers

Hi all, I have the same on my tiguan elegance 2.0 tsi. I noticed that the problem is related to the heat stress, as I am residing in qatar. When the car is fully exposed to sun than the first passage through a tunnel or basement parking or dark place the tail light left shows error. When I turn the car off and again on everything is perfect. I highlighted the same to the maintenance team during my first service and the response was that the computer didnt catch any error regarding this.
If any update please help. Thanks for all

The same thing happened to me on the days that the car is in the sun, it gives an error with the rear light, it is not always the same sometimes on the left other times on the right, but it is because of the heat that is sure when it does, I also have matrix type lights .

Hello guys, The same issue i have on my tiguan 2m0 tdi Elegance 4motion. It is connected with outside temp, and turns the error when go to dark (garage, tunnels etc.).Sometimes it is left light, sometimes right, sometimes both. I went to the dealers garage they check and vw software said "do not do anything, the vw is working on solution". I tried everything in the settings, no help. Only if you do not Turn on automatic lights... But that is not the solution for sure. As I bought 2 tiguans, another one is petrol, life model, front lights are the same matrix as on diesel but rear are "simple" and it does not make errors. If someone finds a solution, ot get a call from dealer, please inform us here. Find attached a few pictures. Special greetings for Qatar friends, I used to work there a long time ago. Best regards, Miroslav

Here in Spain a few rear lights have already been changed under warranty, the same thing happens to me when the sun shines a lot on the rear lights on August 21st I leave it at vw so they can look at various things under warranty malfunction of the infotaiment with android auto and carplay both wired and wireless and the usb c of the center console and the rear lights and noises in the seat belts and rear tray, I hope they solve everything for me. I'll tell you what they tell me about the rear lights.
