Trying to recode a new OEM battery in my daughter's 2016 MK6 Jetta Sport - Manual 5 speed, no auto stop/start and I do not believe the vehicle has battery management module, there is noting attached to the battery terminals. I have OBD 11 pro using with IOS phone. I watched multiple online videos, however, when I use the OBD 11 device I do not get the same options. Under Gateway there is no "Adaptation" selection therefore no way to get to Battery Adaptation selection which is in most of the videos. Using Long Adaptation in Gateway with Code 004 provides no return.
I have a Battery Regulation option where you can go in and selection Long Adaption, entering in 004 brings up a code string that appears to be the Battery string = it 060 JCB 1111111111. I tried entering my BME Code here and it dd not work, so I just changed the last 1 to a 2 and it saved it. However, when I go back in it has defaulted back to the previous setting? Any ideas. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Go to the Gateway module Select Long coding and you should see the screen shot below:
Enter 04 into the dialogue box
You need to enter a single number-string into this channel that's made-up of the following 3 x components;
- the battery part number,
- the manufacturer, and
- the serial number.
Each component is separated by a space in the number-string like this: PartNumberspaceManufacturerspaceSerialNumber
ALL of this information can be found on the BEM Code sticker - see the 3 x colored boxes in the picture below.
Note: Check the number of digits in the first number - because the first part of the value that's entered into the 04 channel MUST be 11 x digits (this is the battery part number). In my picture, the red colored box has only 10 x digits - so you need to enter a space as the 11th digit. If your battery part number is the same, this means that there will be 2 x spaces between the battery part number and the manufacturer for the BEM code in my picture.
For the BEM Code sticker above, the correct entry should be:
3D0915105HspacespaceVAOspace590116G0Q9
IMPORTANT: use CAPITAL letters and make sure that you distinguish correctly between the number zero and the letter "O" (the former has a stroke through the number) - failure to do this will cause problems!!!

I fully understand there are three different battery type setups (Control Unit 61 or non uds and uds) however I am confused over the non uds setup.
In some cars Channel 4 has format 070spaceVA0space1111111111 but in others its PartNumberspaceManufacturerspaceSerialNumber
Do you know how i can identify which format I should be using on what car please.
Final question (sorry for asking so much) is it possible on the older control units to change the battery type if so could you point me to where this id done please.
Cheers
