I have a VW Golf 2014 MIB 1 standard I have the next generation device. On the dashboard there is a sign saying the taillight is broken. on the obd eleven app it also shows that. it shows it as a static fault and I want to know how to remove it.
HUGE THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME!

mushfik08:hi. Hmm........ I admit that it's stating the bleeding obvious, but why don't you simply identify the faulty lamp/lamps on the tail-light fittings - then after replacing the lamp/lamps, clear the error message on the diagnostic report via OBD11? Don

A garage said that it isn’t necessary to replace the tail light. the car belongs to my dad and he rents it out to other people. he wants the warning sign to be gone without replacing the actual bulb.

hmm........ OK- then the "garage" clearly has more advanced information than has been provided here. What county is this? I assume this is a MQB platform vehicle (MK7 Golf) because you have posted here - the diagnostics on these cars don't normally tell porkies. Yes, sometimes the error messages are wrongly interpreted, but generally they aren't too bad!! Are ALL (emphasis on "all") the tail lights operating correctly? Is the error descriptor Static, Confirmed, or intermittent? I assume that "dad" isn't going to tell renters about your fix for this fault - even if it were possible to disable the error message without rectifying the cause! What is your dad's (and what is your) legal status if you disable a legitimate alarm for a safety item on a car that he rents? Seems a tad dodgy to me and I'm concerned about the residual moral liability extending to anyone who might provide advice on a forum?
For the avoidance of doubt - my recommendation is fix the car properly (regardless of whether someone pays your dad money to use this car - it should be road-legal if it's on the road) !!
