Hi guys,
I was wondering if it would at some point be possible to have the Performance Pack Driving Modes (Special/Nurburgring & Drift) - coded in via OBDEleven for Non-PP Golf R MK8 cars?
Would be interesting to hear some thoughts.

I am pretty sure that this cannot be coded. First of all R has a different gearbox capable of "Launch Control" and other things. Second, R is a 4motion with two diffs and it's capable of balancing the power to front or rear at any time ( Nurburgring mode).

The OP was asking about the Golf R, not R-Line for example. There is a Performance Pack (PP) for the Golf R that adds Drift and Nurburgring modes, it's entirely software as the cars are the same (all Golf R have the same gearbox, e-diffs and 4motion)

Ah that sucks  I wonder if a dealer may do it in the future. Fingers crossed for something down the line once these cars have been around for a bit longer! |

All inofficial SwaP-related breakthroughs did not attack swap itself, but some underlying processes.
Officially: I do not think they will release a "premium" feature for the aftermarket, let alone parts of it separately.

Yeah this is a real shame, you would think they could offer it on the shop app to be honest as it's just software. Wouldn't mind paying to get it installed, so them losing extra money is kind of weird haha

Just an update on this, I asked my local dealer/service centre if this is something they could install as it is just a software unlock. They are going to look into it, but couldn't say for sure yet as this is the first enquiry they have had. The tech I spoke to said in theory if they can get the codes generated from VW, assuming VW are happy to do this, then there is no reason why it cannot be installed.

Did anyone get any info on how we cqn get this coded in either through dealer activation or coding through other means?
Drove a car with Special mode and it was 10X better than normal Race so definitely something the non-performance pack guys are missing out on!

So I have it on my GTI SE in the states. I had to go through a lot an pay a lot of money to have it done. Unfortunately the engineers at VW won’t just do it.
