Hello everyone,
I have a Golf 8 originally without driving profile selection. I have now bought a button with this. Now I have the problem with the coding, old options such as Golf 7 cannot be used.
Does anyone here in the forum already have experience with this topic or an idea?
Thank you in advance and best regards.

rsgermany: hmm...... are you sure that driving profile selection can be retrofitted on a mk8 simply by adding the switch and making a few coding changes? IIRC and at least for the earlier MQB platform model mk7/7.5, Driving Profile was SWAP (Software As Product) - meaning that to enable the facility, an authorization number (called a FEC) was needed that was individually tailored to the car's VIN. Again for a Golf mk7, the Driving Profile Selection SWaP was P/N 75G0054809. Not sure if stuff is the same for the MQB evo platform on a Golf mk8. Don

dv52 is correct. Driving profiles are controlled by SWaP (each profile needs to be enabled with a individual code), so there is no known way for retrofitting them. I doubt that the aftermarket SWaP will work on a Golf 8.

Sorry for the long reply, thank you for your information. hmm okay, that's very annoying of course. So with the Golf 7 you could buy the whole thing as a retrofit package. shop.ahw-shop.de/detail/index/sArticle/5150/sCategory/6425Translation: With the activation, the PR number is rewritten in the construction status documentation of the manufacturer database. If a diagnostic tester is connected later, the function will be recognized correctly. In addition, all affected control units are recoded, parameterized and calibrated as required. The function is therefore comparable to the driving profile selection installed ex works. So I think you're right, but I'm wondering if it is or will be possible to unlock the whole thing directly at VW?

rsgermany : Again for earlier MQB platform cars - it is possible to buy SWAP products and to generate the FEC via the dealer tool ODIS as an after-market service. I suspect that this process is the same for your MQB evo platform car albeit the newer type SFD protection protocols on some mk8 vehicles will make the procedure different. I'm not sure how cooperative dealers in Germany are. Here in Australia, many dealers refuse to enable poducts that are purchased from non OEM equipment suppliers (meaning that the dealer must undertake the entire project - including equipment purchase and installation).
I suggest that you discuss how you intend to proceed with a local dealer before you spend any more money on your project

It will not work. Not primarily because of SFD or FoD, but because the underlying programming is not suitable for G8.
They even did not allow that package for all G7 at that time it was relevant.
The codes the workshops needs to enter are - as far as I know - not associated to the G8. Maybe you can enable the fecs on the backend and successfully import them to the car, but you need to do all the coding and parametrisation on your own...
Regarding usage of new 3rd party parts there are two common policies here: * No usage of these parts (unable to check it, workshops insurance does not cover in case of a lawsuit) * Signing a waiver for warranty, billing by the hour

newty : Thanks for the additional information. If I'm reading your words correctly, why is "the underlying programming is not suitable for G8"? Surely if OP wanted to retrofit Driver profile - he/she could buy a SWAP based product directly from a dealer in Germany and the software part could be installed via ODIS. What is it about SFD, or FoD that stops this happening for the OEM product? Don

I do not know about exact working procedures, but enabling driving profiles should change 3 systems in the backend automatically. I am not aware if the G8 guided functions are actually allowing to enter an "oldschool" activation key, if so, it might be worth a try, but I doubt that, since even for the G7 there are restrictions regarding the usability. I know some guys who ignored that and failed.
But lets have a quick check about what should be changes in case this all works out: *SWaP - as a part of GeKo. Each driving profile has a individual FeC. I did not check if the FeCs are identical between G7 and G8. If so, we might be good to go. If not - showstopper. *Fazit - ZDC for Parameters. Cars with driving profiles are having a "special" set of parameters for the gateway *Coding - all affected control units need to be coded correctly Fazit and Coding are regenerated by changing the PR-Codes of the car and then making a SVM for them. As brakes, engine, and probably dsg are affected, there is little to no documentation in case this does not work automatically.
