Something strange happened on my mk8 golf, I changed the sound aktor to 0% do off and now my stop/start doesn't work the engine doesn't switch off automatically just stays idling, been like this a few weeks now. I didn't change anything and my history shows nothing been touched either
What do I need to check to make sure the settings for stop Start are still active ?

You are lucky. Don’t change anything. People try deactivate start and stop system for months now and you somehow find it way. Can you post exactly how did you managed this, please

I turned down the sound aktor fake noise to 0%
That's it wonder if it's upset something in the VW brain

hmm......... turning-OFF soundaktor volume and disabling Start/Stop function is highly unlikely!! Here are the preconditions for automatic engine switch-off - The driver is wearing their seat belt.
- The driver door is closed.
- The bonnet is closed.
- The factory-fitted towing bracket is not attached electrically to a trailer.
- A minimum engine temperature has been reached.
- The vehicle has been moved since the engine was last switched off.
- For vehicles with Climatronic: the temperature inside the vehicle is within the pre-set temperature range.
- The defrost function of the air conditioning system is not switched on.
- The charging state of the vehicle battery is sufficient.
- The temperature of the vehicle battery is not too low or too high.
- The vehicle is not on a steep incline.
- For vehicles with an automatic gearbox: the front wheels are not angled too sharply.
- The windscreen heating is not switched on.
- Reverse gear is not engaged.
- The park assist system (Park Assist) system is not active.
So, more likely to be one, or more of the above (I suspect)
