I had some trouble figuring this one out so I figured I'd post how I did it.
under central module comfort system (46) go into long coding and change
byte 06 bit 5 from 1 to 0 (this enables remote control of windows / sunroof) byte 07 bit 2 from 0 to 1 (this enables opening windows via remote) byte 07 bit 5 from 0 to 1 (this enables closing windows via remote) byte 08 bit 5 from 0 to 1 (this enables closing sunroof via remote) (if no sunroof ignore this one)
with these changes holding the unlock will roll down the windows, and the opposite for locking. when locking It requires a short press then a held press to roll them back up.
apparently there is no way to make the sunroof open via remote.

The panoramic roof on my 2012 Sportwagen opens with the remote coding. My 2008 Wolfsburg Jetta only closes with the remote.

apparently there is no way to make the sunroof open via remote. This is not possible in the 1K / MK5 chassis. You would have to get the MK6 / 5K "body control" module and code it with the options that your car has (but do not simply copy and paste the coding) for it to work.
