Hi all, this is my first post, thanks in advance for your help, I have an A3 8V 2.0 tdi 2015 - Previously it was possible to deactivate starting vibration control and torque control in the apps—>Brakes—>adaptation—> starting vibration, but now it’s only possible to increase starting vibration control and the torque limiter option. Has disappeared.
Has this been moved/replaced with something else? If not does anyone know of a way to long code these options (off)?
Thanks
Rob

Rob: Hi. I can't answer your question because I NEVER use one-click-apps - IMHO, they are way too risky because they make changes to your car's coding and they leave no records of what was changed. This means that if the lose stools in the brown stuff hit the proverbial fan blades (as does happen occasionally), you are in very deep do-do!!
My advice - do the tweak manually like this (you need a PRO account): - Go to the Brake module @ address hex03
- Go to adaptation
- Enter "vibration" into the search box and select Starting vibration reduction
- Change setting as desired and follow the prompts to implement

Hi Don,
Thanks very much for your reply, I’m going to try this tonight and will let you know how I get on!
Is this the same for torque limiter?
Thanks again

Rob: As I said, I never use one-click-apps, so I don't know what OBD11 calls "torque limiter". But the instructions that I provided are traditionally called "torque limiter" There is another adaptation channel in this module with the name Starting vibration reduction-Torque limitation - but it's normally set to deactivated

Hi Don, I’ve attempted this and unfortunately the selection options are still the same, they only offer normal or increased but don’t offer disabling as they used to. How would I go about long coding this, and is this possible? Thanks again Rob

@steorob: Not sure what you mean by "as they used to". When changing adaptation channel setting, OBD11 doesn't intervene to restrict options. OBD11 simply displays the available options that are programmed into the module's firmware (nothing more and nothing less)
If "deactivate" option isn't shown - then for the one module, it must always have not been available! That's the nature of manual coding!!
I am aware that the ability to modify this function in the Brake module changed with newer version modules. It went from fully adjustable in early modules to just "strong"/"normal" in later modules to not available at all in recent modules. But again, OBD1 will simply display what's in the module!

Ah okay I understand! The reason I thought it should include a disable option is that it’s commonly disabled by YouTubers using OBDeleven on their a3/S3 however I’ve noticed these tend to be older videos (around 2017-2019).
So does this mean that this can no longer be disabled manually (not even with long coding)?
Thanks again

Rob: as you will appreciate, tinkering with the Brake module carries with it a range of safety related issues.
In most of your car's modules, there are explanations on the long-code Byte/Bits that describe which software switch does what. However and as a general rule, the long-code string for the module at address hex03 doesn't have these descriptors as factory provided data - again because of safety related issues.
Anyhow, AFAIK there are no long-code switches that specifically control "starting vibration"
