Previously I have used OBD11 on my 2015 Golf R. I used the apps and long coding for exhaust flaps etc. I now have a 2017 non FL Golf R. OBD11 has scanned it and shows it as a 2017 Golf. Lots of the apps are no longer available - exhaust flaps etc cant even long code the exhaust flaps as byte 2 is already un-checked) Is this correct or is OBD11 seeing my car as a FL version? Can I force it to use the previous 2015 apps? Thanks.

Thanks. ukr7: wow - some very good questions - and in the asking, you have raised a couple of excellent fundamental issues the first of which is - how does OBD11 decide which model it is scanning? If you have used VCDS, you will know that the cable doesn't do this - no model type like 2017 Golf R is displayed! I suspect that OBb11 must decode the VIN to produce this information - much like webpages like THIS. So I'm guessing that if you put your VIN into the site above and if it returns FL version, then OBD11 will do the same. I'm not sure about forcing OBD11 to use previous Apps - my suggestion is to do the tweaks manually Don
