Hi all,
I attempted to use the CarPlay Wireless app on my Obdeleven today and it did not work for. I had to change it again and rest my infotainment to get it to work.
The car is a 2022 GTI S trim. It doesn’t come started with wireless Apple CarPlay. Is that the issue. I’m in the USA.

Same here. Super excited when I saw it pop up in the app, but appears not to work. 2022 GTI S trim USA model. I ran the app, rebooted the infotainment, deleted my phone from the infotainment and my car from my phone, and tried to get it to work wirelessly. It paired with the infotainment just fine, but I never got an option for wireless. Wired carplay still works fine, and in fact when not wired I can go to “mobile devices” in the infotainment and there is a carplay icon for my phone, but pressing it just causes the phone to grey out on the infotainment screen.

I reached out to support and sent they asked me to create a backup of my car which I did. Hoping to hear back from them one way or another.

Could you follow up on here if the support get back to you? I am going to test the one click app and if that doesn’t work trying different adaptations to try and get it to work. Will upload my adaptations if it runs

Wireless carplay or android auto needs WiFi... Has your US car got WiFi? Apple will work with only 2ghz WiFi but android needs 5ghz.
Not all infotainment units have both or either.

One interesting thing I found was, since day one with my MK8, after pairing bluetooth to the car, whenever I start the car my phone would pop up "this accessory is not supported" as an error message. I would plug it in and it would work fine with wired carplay. Since running the wireless carplay app, I no longer get that message. So something changed... webster4221 Let us know if you hear back from support. Kinda bummed I burned 100 credits on it without it working, and would really love it if it did! |

I would reach out to support to let them know. They refunded my credits. Still no word from them. I’ll reach out again.

I was also surprised to see the app since i know for a fact that carplay needs WIFI capability to work wireless and the 8.3 screen doesn't have it. so now probably to eliminate all the support calls to retrieve stolen credits the app just fails without charging anything.
OBD11 can't produce magic, if the hardware doesn't exist it will never work.
i wish they will release High beam assist APP, that is an addition that you can buy after purchase so its most probably code-able.

Mine is Discover2Media and it's working without a cable on both Android Auto (with my son's S21 Ultra) and Apple Carplay with my iPhone. Haven't done anything - came like this in December 2021 from factory
