guys, talking to a friend of mine who works in the Seat workshop, he told me that the use of OBD11 invalidates the warranty and that any coding, adaptation or modification via OBD11
remains detectable; what do you think?
Answer
Several things Seat tech have their work cut out with the current platform so they don't look for work. Anybody with a PCP car or other deal where they don't technically own the car must bear the consequence of what they do to it. If you messed it up I'm sure they would look for coding changes before taking a car back that had be rejected. Simple task of looking at what should be loaded in the control units and what is. They aren't going to look for that without a reason.
Whilst I agree that Seat garages up till now have by and large ignored coding changes, there is one item to remember here, SFD Control units pass back all the request's you have made to the protected control units and can ask OBD11 To share your personal details if required....
Still dont expect a big change in how garages work but the world has changed and this data is stored for a very long time.
Further as always it is correct making coding changes CAN invalidate the warranty but its up to them to prove you did it (which they can now) and its not the whole car warranty just the part you have played with. So changing the ACC setup is unlikely to invalidate the warranty on the engine / gearbox
Time as always will tell.
Final point the OBD11 Terms and conditions state:

- you are responsible for all SFD usage activities carried out by logging in under your user name;
- any transfer of SFD tokens to third parties is prohibited;
- the data protection provisions applicable to the vehicle user must be complied with;
- the maximum number of SFD interfaces and VIN number requests allowed is:

Final point this information was received from Customer service back in 2017 and I have no reason to suspect its changed.
Thank you for your recent contact with SEAT Customer Services.
We would recommend that any alterations made to a vehicle or any parts used on your vehicle should be SEAT approved. If this recommendation is not followed and a non SEAT approved part/accessory is used on your vehicle and a fault occurs as a result of the use of this component then your warranty will be void.
If also you turned on any features of a component that did not come as standard on your vehicle and that component broke the cost will not be covered by SEAT and in doing so the warranty on any related parts can also be affected.
I hope this information proves useful and if you do require further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me on the number provided below.
