Just a general question. I noticed this setting for travel assist and I dont really know what it does. Ive played around with each setting and haven't really noticed a notable difference and the description for the travel assist feature in the menu provides no context for the setting. was wondering if anyone here had any knowledge behind it. I'll attach images so you guys can see which setting im talking about.

I agree that this setting did not do anything for me. Also, it is reset to Medium at every ignition cycle. Looks like this is a lookout to some feature not fully implemented, so it is neither used or saved.
For curious people: Setting the HC warn intensity coding to "Setting over Menu" will bring this option.

This option is used iff you dont use your indicator and want to change lane. The car wil countersteer with a force. That force you can manage here

Negative. Tried it. No change, plus it resetting all the time is a clear indicator that this value has no use.

The menu items in the Assist Menu are only showing up when there is a item below it, so the travel assist main item is usually hidden until you play around with said warning intensity or the heading control0, activating the non working lane change menu item.

Hi, i have golf 8 2021 2.0l tdi 85kw with dsg. I have travel assist from factory. But i don't have travel assist menu in assist settings. Does anyone know to code it? I want to unlock auto lane change when travel assist is activated.

Yes, it looks like recent camera software is mandatory. But as far as I can see, flashfiles - let alone datasets - have not been released to the public.
Also, there will be some codings you will need to adapt.
And lastly: I might be needed to upgrade the Dashboard too when they indroduced new BAP-messages for this.

The camera and front acc radar require software updates. They also require datasets.

So far, I am not aware of any update for the ACC higher than 0395. You could exchange the hardware though, getting 04xx with that.
But as far as I know, 0395 is fine for assisted lane change

I have a question related with TA My engine is simple 1.5 TSI ACT 150HP I noticed in ACC - STG13 that there is two curious functions:
1) LongCoding - Sailing Mode (might be set to predictive sailing) 2) Adaptation - Coasting mode
Travel Assist is really nice function which can react on incoming crossroads, speed limits and so on. I managed to activate drivers offset function which brings convenience feature of ACC behavior. It adds some offset to incoming speed limit i.e in 70km/h it sets 90km/h then in 50km/h it sets 70km/h respectively and so on…
I was wondering whether activating options like coasting and predictive sailing will be able to better optimize Travel Assist operation and of course brings lower fuel consumption during using TA
Did anybody activate it or already have it activated in the car? Isn’t it reserved only for mild-hybrid or hybrid cars??

Sailing Coasting and so on is deeply integrated into Engine, Transmission, ABS, eBKV, Camera and Infotainment. You can surely try some modifications there and carefully check for Fault Codes all around the car to see if there is more to adjust.
Also, please understand that the Golf 8 cannot be compared to a Passat at all.
