Problem: I can't get my car to lock from the outside. I have 2 key fobs, they behave exactly the same. I can "unlock" my car from a decent distance (lights flash and I can hear the doors attempt to unlock), rear hatch will also pop from the fobs. The lock button does nothing on both fobs. Also nothing happens when trying to lock the car using the handles. Doors will lock from the inside and do auto lock once driving faster than 15mph. This all started 2 days ago.
Background: I was using OBD11 to enable the option for the car to be locked from the outside while running. I was unable to get into the coding of the central electronics module. I was met with multiple error messages. I moved on and changed the push to talk button to only work as a mute button. I also forced my headlights to re-level (separate issue y just I still need help with). I have tried to go back and undue the changes I made but it hasn't fixed it. I was in and out of multiple modules just looking at different options so I may have messed something random up.
All the door sensors, hatch, and hood are registering appropriately. Show open when open and closed when closed. Could those sensors be throwing faults even still?
1 other odd thing is that the suggestion for gears on the central screen is gone.
I have a 2012 Golf R, 4 door, 6 speed manual transmission.

I figured it out. When exploring the various options offered by obdeleven I added the transmission control module (TCM). I thought it might have some interesting live data options. Turns out that adding modules actually modifies the gateway module. I removed the TCM and all problems are solved. The suggestion for gears even came back.

Turns out that adding modules actually modifies the gateway module. This is correct. I'm surprised you didn't get numerous errors telling you to check the non-existent TCM for failure. One nice feature about VCDS, is that it allows you to do a deep-scan though all the addresses for all modules that are electrically attached. This would have pointed out to you that the TCM isn't apart of the electrical connection.
