Kevin: Sorry to read about the accident - hope that no-one was injured.First question - were the airbags deployed in the accident? If not, then the problem with your new front radar sensor (it's called J428) is probably that it needs to be calibrated. Is there any messages on your auto scan for J428 telling you this ? Not sure if you are aware (my apology if you already know), but the Adaptive cruise control unit (J428) uses the extended CAN bus to communicate with the rest of the car. Anytime J428 is removed from this bus, or power to the control unit is removed, it requires re-calibration. This also applies to new control units (alas). You will need to get access to a special ACC setting device for this task, but more importantly, I don't believe that OBD11 can be used - happy to be corrected! Don

Don is correct. It's dealer job only and will set you back around £300 for sensor recalibration.

Same thing happened to me! £350 and a 7 hour process in UK VW dealerships... really is a con I refused to pay it, and 2 months later mine recallibrated itself and works perfect, something that VW told me was impossible

Perhaps a dirty/loose-fitting connector? As you probably already know, the steering angle sender (G85) is part of the steering rack - so it can't be changed as an individual item (I believe). Perhaps try a second-hand steering rack? Don

I'm leaving the option of trying the second hand steering rack as a last resort (since I'm just being cheap). I'll try to clean the connectors over the weekend, and clear all error codes to see if that helps.
I just found it strange that this started happening the day that I got my VCDS cable and started messing around. I'll admit that I have to change a few bushings in the steering rack so that I can get an alignment done on the car.
