Hi all,
since one month, when I connect my device to Obdeleven, there is a popup message asking me to autocoding the gateway list, but I don't know what this action is going to do.
Any suggestion?
I've to click on "YES" without any doubt, or not?
Thanks in advance
Cheers

So to understand autocode, you need to know how the diagnostic function operates on a car. It ALL starts with a communications protocol called "CAN" (Controller Area Network). Modern cars have multiple control modules installed and these modules form a network - meaning that they talk to one another over a 2 x wire communications platform.
A central module - which OBD11 calls "Gateway" module - is used to manage the CAN communications function. To do this, the Gateway module needs to be told which modules are installed on the car's CAN network - it's a kind-of module registration process and the Gateway module has an "installation list" for this purpose. Whenever modules are retrofitted to the car, or they are removed for some reason, the Installation list must be modified
The autocode facility automatically aligns the Gateway module's Installation list with the actual modules that are connected to the car's CAN network.
It's your choice whether to enable autocode, or not - personally, I don't use autocode because I want to know if errors occur on the CAN network because the Installation list is wrong (my preference is to manage these errors manually). But you might have a different view
