I've recently bought a RCD330 for my Mk7 Gti which had the very limited MIB1 installed.
After Installing the unit I'm impressed but have various issues which I believe are coded related, but I have limited experience in coding.
My unit came with the latest software 5532 so ruling out firmware updates etc.
I've long coded 5F
02 73 00 00 FF 00 00 00 00 55 00 01 01 0D 00 00 2F 01 00 C4 00 00 01 00 02
But have the following error
5F Multimedia
System description: MU-G--CN
Software number: 5GD035280B
Software version: 5532
Hardware number: 5GD035280A
Hardware version: 541
Serial number: VWZZZ4R5302594
ODX name: EV_MUGlb4CGen25TPWR
ODX version: 001001
Long coding: 02730000FF00000000550001010D00002F0100C40000010002
Trouble codes:
U101400 - Control module incorrectly coded

what was the value of the long-code string on your OLD MIB and how did your handled Component Protection (is the new unit hacked)?

Hi Don,
I’m not sure of the old MIB coding or how to get it? Any ideas? Is it worth putting it back in?
As for the protection there is no security on the new radio and the car accepts it without issue so I believe it’s been hacked.
Thanks Steve

Steve: So here's the thing: if your count the number of digits in the long-code string on your "radio" (it's called a "MIB") - you will find that it has 50 x digits. This means that the MIB has 25 x Bytes - and this also means that the MIB has 25 x 8 = 200 different software switches, each of which can be the cause of your "incorrectly coded" error message.
Plus, your MIB also has somewhere around 1,100 separate adaptation channels, again also each of which could be the cause of the error.
So, - simply posting-up the error message from the MIB isn't really of much help in solving an "incorrectly coded" fault in a module.
The correct method that you need to use in this type of fault is to make a back-up of the old and the new modules. Then, you should compare the long code string values AND if the error isn't fixed, also compare the settings on EACH of the adaptation channels for both units.
Yes, it's a tedious process when done manually, but alas this is what's needed with these retrofit projects

Hi thanks for the detailed explanation I will get on it but its going to take some time I reckon with the cabling being pulled through from the glovebox
