Hi all,
I have a problem with some missing adaptations in control unit 5F. I would like to activate the traffic sign recognition and for that I used to change the following adaptions:
Select Control unit 5F (Information Electrical) Adaptation Select channel (63) vehicle function list BAP traffic_sign_recognition_0x21 Active Select channel (151) vehicle menu operation-menu_display_road_sign_identification Active Select channel (153) vehicle menu operation-menu_display_road_sign_identification_over_thresho ld_high Active
I'm also not able to enter the channels 63, 151 or 153. When I try this, I will get an error message.
My problem is, that when I click "adaptions" in control unit 5F, I will get a popup to enter a channel number. I don't get the list with the "clear-text"-adaptions. Is there any trick to enter this list? Do I make something wrong?
Please give me an advice how to change these adaptions.
Many thanks in advance! Novhil.

This is my experience (through trial and error and research over the past 9 moths of usage). First of all, when you enter Adaptations and is given a screen to enter the actual Adaptation number, that means that the Textual descriptions which are provided by users have not been available yet. Further, if you enter an Adaptation number and it returns an error that means that your car either does not have that equipment installed or you simply cannot code that Adaptation. Most of the time, it has to do with missing equipment. A word of caution: The textual descriptions in both Long Coding and Adaptations are not 100%. These are coming from users all over the world and if you know about automobile distribution worldwide, you'll accept the fact that there are versions of the same car that are coded slightly differently depending on where they are sold.
What you should do, prior to any coding or activating of features is to Connect to your car (with OBD11) and when connected, perform a scan to see if there are any errors. Do not clear errors until you have looked at the modules throwing up those errors and fixing that, if you can. Then click on the image of your car and go look at your list of installed equipment (by factory). If an option you want to activate, i.e. traffic sign recognition, is not a part of any package or option installed on that equipment list, then no amount of coding will give you that option. In fact, what you will get is an error message on your DIS telling your Map is out of range. Been there, done that.
This is not to say that there isn't something you can code that wasn't coded from the factory. However, most of the things you can do, imo, are "adjustments" to those things that are already installed and activated on your particular car. Some of the things that come to mind that you can code/activate that isn't automatically done by the factory is/are: Windows up/down with long key presses on lock/unlock, Double disarm beeps with unlocking, Euro parking lights (where you can activate parking lights on one side or the other (narrow streets etc.)...but the major stuff like traffic signs, lane assist, highway lights all would require some kind of hardware installed prior to allowing you to activate or adjust.
Lastly, this is all from 9 mos of coding/adaptation experiments.
