Check these channel settings in the hex5F module: Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2 (Vehicle menu operation) - menu_display_clock > activated
- menu_display_clock_over_threshold_high > activated
Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2 (Vehicle function list BAP) - clock_0x11 > activated
- clock_0x11_msg_bus > Comfort data bus
The bracketed words refer to the earlier MIB 1 (not sure about your MIB version)

Hi Don -- thanks for the reply!! I checked this morning and confirmed both of those are set the way you described, unfortunately the menu item is still missing. Mine is MIB2 (U.S.) if it helps at all. Appreciate if you have any other magic up your sleeve!

Yeah you NEVER want to play with factory reset, it’s not how the module came out of the Vw factory, more the factory where it was made before Vw programmed it (Harman, Bosch etc), and that’s how you brick your car
Is the three pictures above settings after, clock, settings before? If not then on the third picture, last one is the setting you want (but it looks like the old setting)
I haven’t played with mine in a long while but have you tried swiping left (as I have a feeling this happened to me years ago, but instead of having on the menu, it was just swipe, like v1 blank, v2 analogue, v3 digital, v4 different clock face)

vwjap Sorry, I should clarify -- when I say "factory reset", I mean via the settings in the infotainment system, not with OBDeleven. Like how you have to do after changing certain lighting settings, for example. As for the issue: I haven't changed any settings whatsoever. What happened was, my settings looked like the last picture "old settings", and then I brought my car to the dealer for them to apply a TSB and update the firmware of my MIB2 from 0890 to 0879 (which for some reason is newer despite the number being lower.) When I got the car back, my settings looked like the first picture (missing the "display time in standby mode" checkbox). Without that checkbox, I'm unable to de-select that option and so it is now permanently enabled, such that when I put my radio in standby mode, I see a clock (middle picture) instead of nothing which is what it was before. What I'm trying to figure out is how to restore the missing setting that vanished when my firmware got updated by the dealer. In answer to your last question: the only things you can swipe between on the clock are the different clock faces; there's no blank option unfortunately. Hope that helps, and thanks!

Interesting info about the 0867 firmware. Any idea when that might have been released? The dealer is giving me the runaround, surprise surprise.

Yeah mine seems to be the most up to date, seems the progression is: P9122D (MU0842) ➔ P0867D (MU0867) ➔ P0890D (MU0890) ➔ P0891D (MU0891) ➔ P0876D (MU0876) ➔ P0879D (MU0879). I've done quite a bit of googling and it seems like I might be the only person on the internet whose ever had this happen... which is not encouraging haha

This option disappeared for me some time ago after a dealer service. The clock bugs me and I've yet to figure out how to bring the option back to get rid of it.
