This is based on a Audi A4 B8 Avant (2012) MMI 3G Basic with the standard sound system. Not sure if this will work with other sound systems.
The standard Audi sound system is pretty ass but it seems that the front speakers are set to output lower amounts of bass compared to the rear speakers Source:
In this video the creator switched the front speaker wiring to the rear and the rear to the front from the amp. I haven't tried this myself but I can confirm that the coding below will increase the amount of bass from the front speakers.
Radio (56) -> Long Coding -> Byte 04 -> Bit 0 (Dynaudio) change 0 to 1.
This may take some time to work I've found that turning off the car and locking it for 30 mins after applying the coding will let it come into affect.
You will also have to turn down your bass and subwoofer settings on the MMI and if you have an aftermarket subwoofer you will have to set the gain again.
If your MMI is out of date this may cause the speakers to limit sooner at higher volumes make sure it's up to date this will also improve audio quality.
This green menu setting will help with static, distortion and volume limiting.
Green menu -> Audiomanagement -> inputgainoffset -> and set everything to 0.
Do not reset MMI, press return, go for a drive or let it run for 10 minutes. Turn off engine and wait 30 mins this sound apply the setting. I'd suggest checking the setting afterwards to make sure that it has set as this sometimes not apply.
Ive also found that setting sound focus to Driver can help improve bass and make the sound quality overall better this can be done on MMI by pressing sound -> DSP - sound focus -> Driver.
If you are streaming music from your phone please please use an EQ as the sound of the AUDI EQ is absolutely horrible. I have a Huawei phone that has Dolby Atmos in sound settings I have this set to "Rich" the sound quality is instantly far better.
If you have an aftermarket subwoofer wired into the rear speakers turn the subwoofer setting to the lowest on the MMI, this will help with volume limiting when bass is present.
Note: adding a aftermarket subwoofer will make the audio quality a hell of a lot better. I got my 800 watt Pioneer subwoofer for £60 with an amp second hand on Facebook market place.
If anyone has any knowledge on getting a preamp signal from the MMI basic standard system please leave a comment as this would help me out a lot.
I hope this has helped please comment if you have anything else to add this would be greatly appreciated and I hope this thread has saved money for people who are looking to invest money on a new soundsystem.
