I recently tried coding LED fog lights to my 2011 GTI, which didn't workout as planned.

My original coding for Byte 18 was bit 00 & i changed it to bit 04. This didn't resolved the light out issue & i returned the LED's & got halogen replacements instead. I then proceeded to code Byte 18 back to bit 00, but now my tail lights on my tailgate work intermittently & my outer lights are very dim.

Is there a way to resolve this issue?

OUCH, you did not see Ross-Tech's numerous warnings NOT to touch Byte 18 (don't even be tempted to look at it). Irreversible damage is lost here. What Dana (from Ross-Tech) explained was that the "00" that you saw there is not really "00". There is some internal in that specific byte (that we the end-users can't see) however the instrument just shows it to you at "00". Even ODIS and VCDS show it the same way. The easiest way to "fix" this is to take the car to the dealership and have that module restored to the factory coding (that the VAS 5054A or VAS 6154 could get and set from the cloud. If you can find someone with an Autel MaxiSys device with a J2534 pass through, they could also pull up the suggested "historical" factory coding for your car (once the device has an active subscription and is connected to the internet).

The ultimate remedy if all else fails is to buy another module and start over, just avoid byte 18 this time around. If you were using VCDS, you would have seen the warning as such before entering the wormhole of Byte #18.

I managed to code my lights about 95% right. I found that changing byte 18 to 3F, fixed the lights. I only get an error when the car is parked with the headlights on & i start the car again then i will get a bulb out error on the dash & a notification saying left DRL is out, but once i switch everything off & the car again, it resets & everything works as per normal again.
Haven't had time to try & get the coding 100% yet.
