hello, Happy owner of an Octavia NX5. I'm looking to enable traffic sign detection. But it is impossible to modify the setting of the A5 module and not on the bus_can to be informed. Has anyone done the manipulation? Or then possible for some who have the option to send me their value indicated in odbeleven. Currently I have requested to change some parameters via the applications (vrs view, remote unlock, ...). Available to trade on. Sorry i use google traduction. I am french. Bye as a supplement, I wanted to follow this procedure for the old version but not found the equivalent in the A5 module. www.vag-perf.fr/vagcom/skoda-vagcom/vcds-skoda-octavia-mk-iii/vagcom-octavia-mk-3-2/If you have any ideas ... thank you in advance

As I see it, first you need to figure out how to enable Traffic jam assist because Traffic Sign Recognition goes with that “extra equipment”.
Maybe someone figured it out already?

This may not yet be possible.
Late last year there was an app for this function but it was quickly removed.
I did try it but couldn't get it to work.

You Can code what u want, Traffic sign will Not work for mk4 without SWAP code. And Swap code you get i think only from Ur skoda dealer. You can try what u want even with Right coding, it will Not work without Swap code.

TSR and TJA share... Nothing. Both feature stand on their own.
TJA is not a feature anymore in the camera. Is has been replaced by Travel Assist. In MQB this was just a extension of the adaptive lane guidance feature. TravelAssist is codeable, but needs the capacitive steering wheel and the matching button set for the steering wheel.
TSR instead is feature merging navigation data with the detected signs from the camera. This is controlled by FoD, which is a feature on demand and controlled by VWs (yes, they share it!) servers.

Can you point to the codes for Travel Assist for Octavia mk4? Are they the same as ID3/ID4? I have capacitive steering wheel with Travel Assist button but the function itself is not activated so looking a solution for that

The approach and the units affected is the same, but you cannot simplify it down to bits/bytes, stick to the descriptions and labels and you *should* be fine.

A5 Driver Assistance - Long Coding - Point_of_intervention - early_setting_over_menu (activates LAG, with the correction intensity set in the menu) - A5 Driver Assistance - Long Coding - HC_Warn_Intensity - Setting_over_Menu (activates the Travel Assist menu in the interface) - (optional) A5 Driver Assistance - Long Coding - Lane_assist_off_text - enabled (Displays the orange cock assist icon in the cockpit if you disable it, for those who want to know that it is disabled)

Hi all. Ive been looking at getting TSR activated on my 21 reg Octavia mk4 SEL model and so far have had no luck what so ever. My A5 camera software and hardware is SW:5WA-980-653-A HW:5WA-980-653. From everything i've read on the subject you need a 3Q0 980 654 sensor.
I've been in touch with vw-retrofit.co.uk regarding getting adaptive cruise control (ACC) updated to predictive adaptive cruise control (pACC) which includes traffic sign recognition and they say my unit cannot be upgraded
What I'd like to know is what sensors are being used if you have an Octavia mk4 with Travel assist factory fitted which included traffic sign recognition and pACC. Is it the same as mine and coded differently or is it a different sensor.
As a bit of additional info i've already changed my steering wheel and activated travel assist lane guidance which is working very well.

Hello Mitchec,
yes difficult to activate the TSR... Regarding the change of steering wheel can you share a tutorial and where did you find the parts to change. If you know how to switch from a GRA regulator to ACC, I'm interested! Have a good day.

Sorry I have no details in switch from GRA (speed control system) to ACC (adaptive cruise control) Bought the steering wheel from cars-equipment.com. www.cars-equipment.com/en/shop/steering-wheels-parts/1 5E3419093AEVKH OEM 5E3419093AE VKH Heated Steering Wheel Škoda Octavia 4 / Fabia 4 / Scala / Kamiq / Kodiaq facelift £166.00 inc VAT for a manual gearbox. 2 5E3419093APVKH OEM 5E3419093AP VKH Steering Wheel Skoda Octavia 4, Kodiaq facelift, Superb 3 facelift, Karoq facelift £166.00 inc VAT for a auto gearbox with paddle shifters. Took around 6 days to arrive. Both wheels include the capacitive module. to remove the clips on the airbag I used a small flat bladed screw driver with the end bent over ~ 60 Deg. See images You will need an M12 spline to remove the steering wheel www.amazon.co.uk/BGS-insert-internal-serration-4354/dp/B001ILAH3ANote these are both heated wheels but can be fitted as none heated if you don't have the preinstalled wiring harness for a heated wheel. Just push the connector with yellow and brown wire out of the way when refitting the airbag To remove and change the steering wheel follow the YouTube guides. These will give you a good idea what to do. Place a smart phone on the dash with the selfie camera on to help locate the airbag retaining clip Make a note of the marks on the steering wheel and the steering wheel mount to make sure the replacement steering wheel is lined up correctly when refitting. I read some where that the steering wheel bolt should be torqued to 30Nm plus 1/4 turn (90deg). This is what I did. After reconnecting the battery you will get a load of errors on the dashboard these will clear after driving the car for a few minutes. See the user manual for more details re the errors shown. Coding is also simple, no SFD unlock required: Control Unit 13 - Adaptive cruise control - Long Coding Capacitive_steering_wheel - Enabled. Control unit A5 - Driver Assistance - Long Coding Klr: Set to Coded. This one will enable capacitive sensors. HC_Warn_Intensity: Setting_over_Menu (activates the Travel Assist menu in the interface) Hc_Variante: 2 Point of intervention Set to Early. To activate Travel Assist press the travel Assist button on the steering wheel. For best use of the system only use on motorways and dual carriage ways. If you don't hold the steering wheel you will still get a hands on warning. I tend to rest my hand inside the wheel towards the bottom for no warnings. For the best display of what's going on select the dash screen with travel assist. See image. You will get two yellow lines on either side of the lane you are traveling in. Motorways will show as three lanes of traffic with vehicles in front and on either side. Dual carriages or single roads will show as two way traffic with just traffic in front the same as ACC. To de-activate travel assist press the brake pedal. Don't expect it to follow the road on tight bends at speed as there is not enough torque in the steering assist. you have to keep an eye on it and get used to what its capable of. One thing I have noticed that is annoying is the ACC speed when activating travel assist. If you have previously pressed the brake to deactivate Travel Assist then the ACC / Travel Assist speed is set to whatever speed you are going when you press the Travel Assist button to activate it again. eg You may have had your ACC speed set to 60mph. If you brake to deactivate Travel Assist and ACC and your speed drops to 45mph this is the ACC set speed after pressing the Travel Assist button again. You will have to reset your ACC speed to 60mph. Please note these notes are for guidance only. Prerequisite is that your car has ACC and Lane Assist. You make any changes at your own risk .

Both, ACC and TSR are controlled via FoD or swap. All codes are installed in the Gateway with MQBw: TSR needs Navigation and TSR: 00040100 Ready4NAV RoW 100E0F00 Verkehrszeichenerkennung (VZE) Full Mode this works with all flavours of the 5WA980653 camera. The index or software version is not relevant.
ACC needs obviously the third stalk. The radar sensor for front assist is capable of doing ACC. Again, FeCs are needed: 10010100 ACC: ACChigh StopAndGo 10010200 predictiveACC: Grundfunktion There is no differentiation between manuals and dsgs or any other ACC flavor than "high"

How do you get access to the FEC codes

You can check which FeCs are enabled in the gateway with "Status of all Swap functions".
Reading the more detailed "Function which can be activated, status of centralized activation" is quite a pain.
And: Right now, there is no known way of creating FeCs besides obtaining them via the Shop as a Feature on Demand.

I have managed to get a scan the gateway and the "Status of all swap functions" which I have put in the spreadsheet for better visibility. Based on what I found on Ross Tech forums I have added the description of what each Id number is. I have to admit that some of the info seems contradictory with regards to Release Code for SWaP function. Does this mean "what's available" or "what's in the canbus". With regards to "Function which can be activated, status of centralized activation". all I get "Not Available" from what you can see should it be possible to activate TSR if a swap code is available. I have a standard UK 2.0 SE L model with ACC with Lane Assist. There is no Ambient lighting package fitted and no High Beam Assist, though this does show up in the App Store. Release Code and Individualisation Characteristic are important here.
But it looks like we are running in circles here. When you are able to obtain a FeC "Release code" - still do not know who translated that - you can surely enable TSR. But that code, individually generated for your car is exactly the missing part here.

All fine. So lets do a quick turn over SWaP - Software as Product:
Swap is a feature allowing the manufacturer to restrict the functions of a control unit. So when you are not buying a car with TSR, the feature will not be enabled (FeC is missing). You can do all the coding, but in the end, the control unit will not do TSR.
How does Swap work? Each feature has an Feature Code. When the feature is to be enabled (after manufacturing or when changing any relevant control unit), a fingerprint will be generated, consisting of the VIN and a 4-byte VCRN. VWs servers will then generate a signed response which is fed back to the control allowing exactly and only the features enabled in the backend database. This response is checked for validity (VIN and VCRN matching, signature correct) in the control unit. If invalid, obviously the feature is not activated. As we cannot reproduce the private key needed to sign the response, our hands are tight here.
FoD even takes this a step further. While SWaP is designed to be a one shot offline procedure with cabled testers only, FoD can work over the air, activating and disabling features, using the OCUs connection.

Control unit A5 - Driver Assistance - Long Coding Hc_Variante: 2 Hi guys, With regards to Travel Assist coding I'm writing here even this is a TSR thread. Apologies for any inconvenience. I would like to code the Travel Assist on my Octavia NX without replacing the steering wheel with the capacitive one. Can someone explain to me what is the difference between Hc_Variante: 0(coded from factory) and Hc_Variante: 2(need to be changed accordingly to the above instructions)?. Is this coding only need for capacitive steering wheel? Thank you

Hi, I've found an Steering Wheel vRS model in a very good condition. I've installed and tried to code it by following the above procedures but I did NOT manage to enable the capacitive function in Control Unit 13: Control Unit 13 - Adaptive cruise control - Long Coding Capacitive_steering_wheel - Enabled. When I've change the option to Installed (I don't have the option Enabled) an error have been returned by the OBD11 App -> " Something was wrong!" something similar to a not supported function. I've also had a permanent error in Gateway Module: " U112500 - Local data bus error - Aditional installation detected". What I've did wrong? Does the Adaptive Cruise Control unit is NOT supporting this function? Any advise will be highly appreciated. Thank you
