Hello, I have to change the battery for a new one and I have been told that I have to code it as new so that the car recognizes it and knows that it is new.
This is true?
How to do it
Greetings and thanks if someone can help me.

plaver : Hi Look at the negative battery terminal - does it have this module? (ignore the yellow gunk - it's an anti-frosting spray that dealers use down here). If you car doesn't have the module (it's called the Battery Monitor control module)-then there is no need to alter any coding values because your car doesn't have an active energy management system Don

Are you swapping like for like? If so just change the serial number

plaver OK - go to the Gateway module @ address hex19 - then select adaptation- then enter "Battery" into the search box - then select Battery adaptation - There will be the following 4 x related channels: - Rated battery capacity - enter the AMPHour value of your new battery
- Battery technology - this needs to align with the manufacturing type of your new battery (AGM="Fleece")
- Battery manufacturer - this isn't important (leave setting unchanged)
- Battery Serial Number - the actual serial number is not important. What is important is that the existing entry is changed (this tells the module to reset the old battery history data). So, simply change the existing serial number by altering one of the digits.

What about capacity? In my case old batery was 69Ah, the new has 70Ah. So I've changed the capacity value too. Don't forget this. Peace
