Daylight Running Lamp adaptation is missing from Central Electronics on my 2017 MK7 GTI Sport. Does not appear in either English or German. I want to turn them off or at least put them in the MIB so they can be accessed from there. I have the Bi Xenon lighting package but I do not have the automatic light feature. HELP? Thanks, Frank

Don, I typed in Daytime in the search box and I get nothing. There is no listing for daytime running lamps. I don't get it. Frank

Frank Frank: So here's what I get on my MY13 mk7 when I type "Daytime" into the search box and then I select Daytime running lights. I wonder if the MY17 module has the whole thing in German? Try typing "Tagfahrlicht" into the search box
Alternatively, try scrolling down through the adaptation channel names and see if anything resembling DRL/Tagfahrlicht becomes apparent

Don, It is simply not there. Could it be that something is "not installed". I found an abbreviated version of that scheinwerfereingung.......etc... that was not installed but I don't know what that relates to. Frank

Frank Frank: hmm.......... that's very interesting and more than a bit intriguing - is there any chance of you positing up a copy of your back-up report for the Central electrics module? If you don't know how to produce a back-up, I've included a visual instruction set below. Once you have received an electronic copy of the report (by mailing yourself a copy first), post it somewhere (like dropbox) and place a link on this forum:
We will get to the bottom of this problem eventually!!

Don, I have saved the backup history but it's a txt file. Is there a way to post that in this thread or do I need to try to take screen shots? Frank

Frank: Thanks for sending the back-up file - It certainly makes for interesting reading, there are some significant changes to the previous Central electrics modules and this goes a long way to explain why you are having problems accessing the correct adaptation channels for your tweak.
It appears that in the BCM on your car there has been a major re-write of the "Parent" channel names and the "Child" associations have also altered. Just as an example, the parent channel group that was previously known as Daytime running lights, is now included in a new Parent channel called Aussenlicht_Front, which means Outdoor lighting_Front . This group has a bunch of the old adaptation channels as children, but it now includes some new channels as well - very different indeed! If this is typical of MY17 Golfs, then many of the existing tweak instructions will need to be re-written (I guess).
I'm not sure if Admin reads these posts, but if anyone from OBD11 HQ is present - the dramatic changes in adaptation channel nomenclature for cars that have these new modules also means that many of the Apps that are written for mk7s won't work on these cars!!
Anyhow - here's what I suggest that you do to include the option in the MIB to switch ON/OFF the DRLs
- Select Central electrics module @ address hex09
- Select Security access
- Enter the magic number 31347
- Select Adaptation
- Search for Aussenlicht_Front
- Select Tagfahrlicht Aktivierung durch BAP oder Bedienfolge moeglich:
- Change setting from not active to active
- Exit OBD11 software
- Select Car from the buttons on the side of the media screen. Then press Setup (on the bottom RHS)
- Select Light
- Enable the "tick" on Daytime Running Light (tick-on DRLs on, tick-off DRLs off
Don
PS: The other odd thing about your back-up file is that OBD11 has failed to read the code-string for the central electrics module. Is this just an aberration with the file? Does OBD11 read the code-string OK when you select coding for this module?

Don, Thanks for the instructions, they worked perfectly. I believe you are 100% correct about the coding changes. Out of desperation I went into the APPS section and tried to do the mirror dip there and got a "Not Supported" message, also changing DRL function from the apps did not work either. I suspect there are any number of other functions that may be affected by this change. Is there a way to communicate this issue to them? I don't see a customer service link anywhere. Frank

Frank Frank: I'm never sure of the best way for us (i.e. users) to communicate with the OBD11 mother-ship!! I guess you could try by starting a thread on the Application-bugs forum HEREAs for the mirror dip tweak- my suggestion is that you try this manually. This is the VCDS instructions 52 Passenger door 07 coding Byte 4 Enable bit 2 and 3 09 Central Electronics 31347 Adaptations 17-Access control 2 - Spiegelabsenkung bei Rueckwaertsfahrt (change to “active”) (22) Access control 2-Menuesteuerung Spiegelabsenkung (change to “active”) this puts the option in the menu screen. But in your case, because of your new Central electrics module, you need to substitute the adaptation channels (in blue) in the last two steps to: - Search for Spiegelverstellung
- Select Spiegelabsenkung bei Rueckwaertsfahrt (change to active)
- Select Menuesteuerung Spiegelabsenkung (change to “active”) this puts the option in the menu screen)
But remember that this tweak is only truly successful if you have the memory module installed in the mirrors. I'd suggest that you check for this facility first -see instructions below. Don

Well that little test solved that question.... the memory module is not installed. So forget that tweak. Frank
P.S. And for anyone wondering if they might be afflicted, my car was built 01/2017.
