Hello everyone, i'm totally new with this OBD11 system and reading this website pages before purchase convinced me i could use your experiment in case a problem occured... Wisely thought, because i indeed have a one ! I have purchased the NextGen OBD11 reader, with Pro and 500 credits options and it's running under IOS, with an iPhone SE new Gen. My car is a european, manual gearbox, Golf R ( 01/2018 ), with the Drive Assist Pack, so i think it's the 7.5 or Facelift version ( i declared it on OBD11 as a 2017-2020 Golf R 5 doors Hatchback ) As advised by VWJAP, i first backuped and recorded all my files and when this was done, i tried to use the APPs: i know, i shouldn't have but i don't know anything about longcoding, or even coding... Fortunately, i have done nothing wrong ( so i guess), because at each of my attempts to use an App, it read "not supported" on the top left of the screen and i didn't have access to the green "Change" button... So i shouldn't have theorically changed or rewritten anything ! ( am i right ? ) My car is well recognized by the OBD11 and the first actions ( reading car info, searching for errors and backup ) went flawless: any idea why it didn't work, is my car a special one ? Don't forget the guy is a newbie and please try to forgive him for any obvious mistake he did... Of course, i'm open to any help to learn longcoding procedures, but is it possible with IOS ? I first bought this item because i wanted to modify the engine and gas pedal profiles, so that it could be an Audi-like one without having the ECU modified ( like foolish Stage X upgrade ) but is it possible on a manual gearbox ? Thanks for the time you spent on this "talkative" reading and good evening from France. Best regards. Stheto

@sheto: Hi and welcome to the wonderful world of diagnostic cables!!
From your (very good) explanation of events, I don't believe that you have "changed or rewritten anything". I'm not experienced with one-click Apps (personally, I never use them)- but as I understand, they first test that certain preconditions are satisfied in the car before they make changes to the modules. From what you have written, I suspect that one, or more of these checks weren't satisfied for whatever reason - hence the "not supported" message. As to what specifically is the incompatibility - I'm not sure
I'm reticent to give you the manual instructions for the "audi" pedal performance tweak because it has been problematic on some Mk7/mk7.5 and because you are a newbie you might need to deal with consequential errors.
My suggestion is that you start your learning journey with a more stable and a easier tweak.

Hello DV52,
thanks for your fast answer.
Would it be of any help if i sent you my entire backup files ( i know you will tell me to erase the VIN Code before doing so... ).
What seemed strange was that any Apps was not supported: is my R 7.5 coding a new one, uncompatible with the OBD11 files ?
I wish i could increase the comfort turn signal cycle from 3 to 5: is it more stable and easier, according to you ?
Best regards Stheto

Yeah turn signal would be better to start off with, the only thing people worry about with that one is the pattern says 1-3 but you can ignore that and put in 4 or 5, and remember to do the in car procedure
The problem with the “Audi” throttle response I’d it can disable your ACC, and although I think therebb VN is now a fix for it, it could be a major panic for a newbie

I don't understand why some owners of the same car and year model as mine, or even younger ones, can use the Apps..
I don't think that VW would have created a European specific coding.
A last basic question: given that the Apps, that are "generic" coding, couldn't do anything with my car
what makes you think that "me" using a long coding method could do better, if the code is different ?
Moreover, i own a IOS phone: i may not have access to the usual Android "toolbox" ?
Best regards

Stheto: Yes, if you want to try the Comfort-Blink tweak - follow the instructions below (Don't forget to complete the in-car procedure after the OBD11 change): In-car procedure (must be done after OBD11 changes completed) - Press the Car button on the RHS of the discover/composition media head.
- Press Set-up on the bottom RHS of the screen (it looks like this )
- In the Vehicle Setting screen, press the Factory Settings panel (it's at the very end of the list at the bottom of the screen)
- In the Factory Settings screen, under Reset individual settings/data, select Lights
- Press Reset tab in the window that says "Reset light settings-are you sure"?

Best regards Stheto No real difference between android and iOS apart from iOS has less facilities (like entering the SVM) Re the apps Most cars have different specs even if you have 2 cars exactly the same models different garages order different specs, 1 may have a lowline reverse camera the other may have the highline, same with a lot of the other options that garages might tick or untick, Also different years can have different firmwares in the modules, take my early 2017, in mid 2017 they added an extra 20 colours to the 09 module, or take for example a 2020 module, some of the options/switches to change in the modules have been disabled, like the stop/start voltage method And lastly the app itself, voltas do not give out the scripts the mods do, so nobody knows what switches in what modules they change so you can’t go back easily and change them back if you have a problem, and only some apps they’ll you what switches have been changed in the history, and it could take days looking through your old back up comparing it to your latest back up and all that give their time for free dont really be wanting to do that for anyone Re long coding/adaptions If something goes wrong you can normally just go back and change what you changed back to the original value, plus the titles give you some kind of idea what your playing with (even better if you read German) This is mainly the reason most people say don’t use apps

Good evening everyone ( European time here ),
in fact, trying to use the Apps just after the first connection with OBD11 unit, that upgraded at first, seems to be the reason why i could do nothing... I plugged the OBD11 the day after and it worked perfectly !
By the way, vwjap, i have been able to activate the engine increased responsiveness with OBD11 IOS Longcoding:
- I own a european manual gearbox VW Golf 7.5 R ( 01/2018 ), the facelift one with original 310 HP-228 KW power. All you have to do ( on THIS particular car ) is to longcode the Byte 00, changing from HEX 09 to HEX 02, switching from Bit0 Bit3 to Bit 1. No need to swap ACC from VW to Audi mode ( on THIS particular car ), all is flawless
BUT
i made a global check and it generated 2 error messages ( ACC and steering Column ): all i had to do was to erase these messages and it never appeared again !
Thanks to DV 52 for his comfort blink really detailed coding procedure...
By the way, an APP instantly and automatically locks all doors as soon as the key is out of the car and all its doors are shut no need to do anything ( a kind of "shut the door and forget" application ) but it doesn't automatically fold the mirrors, i have to re-lock the door with my thumb on the handle - Keyless Access - or with the key button for the mirrors to fold ( function is already activated in the car setup: yes ! )... Any idea how to improve this App to have both at the same time: instant automatic lock and mirrors folding ?
Don't hesitate to send the "newbie really detailed" coding procedure...
Thanks, best regards and greetings from France
