Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone with the Aisin 8G30 transmission may have gotten the gear display for all modes to work. I know this was possible on the previous 6 speed automatic from threads posted on other forums. I haven’t seen anything about the 8 speed automatic yet. I’m in a NA market 2019 Golf Sportwagen S so no virtual cockpit. I have the next gen device and have a current pro account. I have checked through all of the adaptions to see if there was anything there but didn’t see anything and the code string doesn’t match up from the 6 speed to the 8 speed. I know there’s a wealth of knowledge here on the forum and I am comfortable with making long coding changes so if anyone has any ideas I’m open to trying something. I’ve already learned a lot from Don just browsing the topics he has commented on. Here is the backup of my long coding if this helps at all. Thanks in advance.

@ji82: Hi.
The only solution that I'm aware-of for this tweak applies to the older AISIN 8G30/18 301 3587 module (as distinct from your AISIN 8G30/18 301 3585).
Here's a comparison of the Long-Code strings from the 2 x modules (3587 values contain the tweak for gear number display): As you can see - there are both similarities and differences between the 2 x strings (not surprisingly-perhaps?).
As you probably already know from your research, the gear display software switch on 3587 is on Byte 01 - the factory value for this Byte is hex02 and the tweak to show the gear number is to change to hex01 (which sets Bit 0=1 and Bit 1=0 - as shown in my table)
So - pending advice from a more knowledgeable forum member, I guess it remains for you to consider whether the same software switches apply on your 3585. I don't know the answer to this question (I see very few "Yankee" mk7s driving the streets here in the Antipodes - in fact, there are none!!)

Thanks for the input Don. I might be the Guinea pig on this unless someone else responds that has tried it. Probably just start with byte01 and go from there. If that doesn’t work it’s not that much of a loss. It would just be cool to see it work. No functional gain really. I’ll let you know what I find out though.
