I recently got my car (Audi A4 2013, manual transmission) and put a new OEM battery to it. It is my first time doing this, so I basically followed some tutorials online. But I had two problems in this process. 1. Based on the guidance I found online, I should go to Gateway->Coding. However, in my system, there is this Long Coding option instead of the Coding option. I believe they are the same, but why is there this difference? 2. When I typed my new BEM code and tried to update it, the system gave me this error "(31) Function not available". And I just couldn't update this new battery. Does anyone know what happens here? I used an Android phone, and I have the pro version of OBDeleven. My car has a manual transmission, so I wonder if this is why I couldn't code it?

I basically posted the same question about a week ago..... and got no replies. I haven't tried to code the new battery yet, but plan on doing it tomorrow... and I'm worried. What worries me most is that no one has replied to a seemingly simple question and the customer support on the OBDeleven website was worthless. I chatted as to whether the gateway function on the IOS version was working. They replied that it was. Then I asked if I needed to use that function to code the new battery.... and the never replied!! What the heck??? Wondering if I wasted my money.

I believe most people give up trying to enter the actual battery ID and just take the existing one and change one digit and hit save. The consensus appears to be that the car will just relearn based on any new ID entered and the actual code makes no difference.
The route should be
Gateway19-adaptation-channel 4.

1. Based on the guidance I found online, I should go to Gateway->Coding. However, in my system, there is this Long Coding option instead of the Coding option. I believe they are the same, but why is there this difference? With regards to the difference its because different control unit protocols have different setups. I did a quick reply here forum.obdeleven.com/post/57054 showing the different labels you can get on different protocols. Hope that helps and makes sense.

Update.... success! Coded a new OEM battery. The only difference on the BEM code was the last ten digits, so that is all I changed. I will say that the IOS app version seemed more user friendly than the Android app. I started using the Android and switched to the IOS after trying to sign in to my device unsuccessfully with the Android version.

I’m also experiencing the same issue. I’m trying to register my new OEM Battery for my 2015 A4. I followed this video since we may have the same app version for OBDEleven
The only is issue that whenever I access Gateway>Channel 4, nothing happens whenever I click on the “pencil” icon to edit the BEM.
Im thinking that it has something to do with the iOS.
Any advice helps!

I too could not find the easy coding option (July 2021 android). I ended up using the long coding method and editing. I found that if I modified the first set of characters it would reject the new value. Only changing the last set of digits allowed it to take. I wish tech support would look at this and provide an easy way to do the coding, or check the code the car has in place.
