I recently purchased obd11 for my mk5 VW R32, and after browsing this forum, had a question regarding whether or not certain information can be displayed in the center dash display of the dashboard(red digital display w/ MFD screen to clarify). I have previously seen in other mk5's the ability to display what song is currently playing on the MFD screen as well as display other numerical live data in other panels(cycling panels by pressing the button w/3 horizontal lines on the steering wheel) of the center dash display. Has anyone else seen this, or perhaps done this type of modification to their own mk5? By numerical data, I do not mean avg MPG, estimated mileage left on remaining gas in tank, total miles driven for trip, etc. these values already display on the center dash display. Any information would be of great help

I don’t know about music info but the mpg and trip meter should be there, all accessible by the buttons on your right hand stalk,
Now, if someone could make it display boost pressure I’d be interested.

I have previously seen in other mk5's the ability to display what song is currently playing on the MFD screen I know what you are talking about, the the answer is dependent on which manufacturer's head unit you are using. I'll give you an example for the RCD-510. There are 3 variants of this unit. One made by Phillips, another by Delphi, and another by Bosch. There is one of the 3 that does NOT display this information in the instrument cluster. I just can't recall which it is at the moment. What you are experiencing is correct. If you DON'T see this Information at the moment (scrolling through the MFD's menu), then there isn't any way to "enable" it as the head unit simply does not transmit that information. I have 2 of the 3 variants of the RCD-510 (Premium-8), so I know what I'm talking about. If you have the Premium-7, then the same applies for you. I got the premium 7 as factory with my GTI, so the music Information was displayed natively on my Red MFD. I upgraded to the RCD-510, and the music info still showed. If then went to another variant of the RCD-510 as I thought it was somehow better. That variant had worse audio quality for my 10 speakers, and it lacked the information in the MFD, so I reverted to the previous RCD-510 I had upgraded to.
