I have a US-spec GTI without automatic headlights. I figured out how to make the CH lights work via the wiper but I cannot get leaving home to work. Is there a way to enable leaving home to work manually like coming home?

You could change your rotary light switch for one of those Chinese, so called "OEM" units that have a light sensor plugged into the back of switch, or you could retrofit a genuine RLS/RLHS/RLFS sensor.
