Hi all,
This is my first post and having used the search function I can’t find the Answer I’m looking for. I used the adaptation to include road sign recognition but it’s disabled my high beam assist. I did think that I could just untick the option but can’t find it either. Can someone point me in the right direction? And I’d best add, do so in a step by step way?
Thanks Kev

Look in History - it contains a record of ALL changes that you made and it includes the before and after values - restore the old setting

I can’t even find the module to check the history Don. Is there a way to see what I’ve removed and put the module back?
ive now seen that I should have done a backup before making the changes, but as they say, the horse has bolted before I closed the stable door!

Select your Car and then Select history this will show you all the changes you have made with before and after settings.

I’ve found the correct module and changed the setting back to turn off road sign recognition. How do I now add my high beam assist back to the car? There is an app that will do it which says not supported, however, when I click in to it it offers 3 on options and 3 off options. Do I use v1 for on and off?
Last time I do something like this!

kevmoz : I NEVER, ever use APPs because they leave no records in History - so you don't know what has been changed!! Remember - it was the History facility that got you out of the problem in your first post!!
Maybe @testeronline can answer your question. My advice (for what it's worth) is that it's time for you to make back-ups before you do anything else. It doesn't solve the App problem of no History records, but at least you will have a "before-App" database that you can manually search (it's still a tedious task) and compare with post-App value, if needed
Don
PS: have you run a scan on the car after your latest changes - are there any errors?

Hi Don, yes I have three now, one has always been there from before I did anything but others are as a result of me changing the settings.

dv52 (Australia) kevmoz with regards to apps as Don said they leave no trace the only way you can work out what has occurred is by doing a backup before and after and doing a compare. Personally I would extract your history file first and double check you have reversed everything you did before the problems started, or post them up here and others can check for you. Secondly in the app there is some talk of LIGHT ASSIST in the MMI Have you checked to ensure that this is turned on. Final point with regards to the app is that it is basically saying that the on version has to be the same as the off version eg OFF V1 has to be ON V1, Or OFF V2 has to be ON V2 (as the car comes with different lamp types).
personally I would contact support directly and after having done the above ask which version should you use but make sure you have done the backup first.
Hope that helps.

Hi Don and Testeronline, I’ve managed to get the adaptive cruise control working again by taking your advice and working backwards. I would have hoped that by removing the road sign recognition that would have solved the high beam assist but alas not yet. It’s not he end of the world and I’ll keep reading to see if I can indeed get it restored. MASSIVE THANK YOU TO YOU BOTH.
I’ve tried to complete the backup as suggested and I get to module 19 of 26 and it just seams to sit there. Does the ignition need to be on for it to perform a full back up?

Full backup yes you must have ignition on, personally I always do full backup with engine running as the backup process does not always complete it if thinks the car is low on battery power.

Perfect, backup completed. I’ve managed to get the high beam assist working now as well, however, this has now bought up a fault with the dynamic corner light. This just goes on and on! I’ll keep reading and do another backup now that it’s sort of back to where it needs to be.
Thanks again for the help and if you know how to sort the latest issue please let me know.

Sorry thats one for the VW Boys to help you with, It will help them if you post your scan results (so they can see the error message) and the control unit 09 backup to check the settings.
Sorry cant help more.

Thanks for your help. Hopefully someone will come to my aid. I’ll download the fault code and post it up.

Just a quick update following reading another post where they had a similar issue. I did the ‘basic light setting’ process and the dynamic light assist is now restored, the lights do the ‘dance’ on start up and the annoying bong to tell me there is a problem has now gone.
Massive that’s again to everyone who helped with the post and to the other people who’s posts I’ve read and gleaned information from.
All the best Kev
