Hello, has anyone retrofitted OEM / Aftermarket LED Tail Lights to a VW Passat B7 (European Spec)? They function correctly and all the lights work as it should however I am getting errors on the MFD such as "Check Rear Left / Right Side Light". I realise it requires coding in Byte 18 using VCDS but I have no idea what HEX code I should use. It's currently 64 as the car came standard with HALOGEN Tail Lights & Headlights with front & rear fogs. I need to know the correct HEX value for LED Tail Lights with rear fog if anyone knows. If you need anymore details please let me know. I would also like a HEX to include LED DRLs.

I also have OBDELEVEN PRO but the only functions for Byte 18 do not seem to have any option for turning off cold-diagnostics for rear tail lights that are LED so I need to change the HEX value for Byte 18. Unless OBDELEVEN have a pre-made app that will do it like they have for the GOLF? Any ideas? Cheers

You can turn off the Bulb Out Warning with the following (turn bit on to disable BOW): Byte 19: - Bit 4 - Turn signals
- Bit 5 - Fog lights
- Bit 6 - Tail Lights
- Bit 7 - Brake Lights
Byte 16:
- Bit 4 - Low Beam headlight
- Bit 5 - Rear fog light (if present)
- Bit 6 - DRL
- Bit 7 - High beam headlight

Thanks azgman for the assist but unfortunately those options dont exist in Byte16 & Byte19 (see VCDS screenshots). I have screenshots of all Bytes if you need to see more. image share

From what i gather i need to update the HEX value in Byte18 in order to tell the vehicle i have LED tail lights and LED DRLs.
The LED tail lights also do not have rear fogs so the new HEX value might need to factor that in.
I have GOOGLED like crazy and i can only find new HEX values for GOLF (any type) and the NAR/China Passat.
Its extremely hard to find anything on the ROW Passat (European 3C B7 Spec) 2011 (MY12).

Those bits exist, but not decoded in the screen you have shown (from Ross Tech, not OBD11). Just program the bits you want to on and give it a try.

Excellent, I will give it a try with OBDEleven later today and I'll post back the results.

Thanks azgman, I tried a few options but they don't seem to do anything. Do you have anymore suggestions that I could try, so I can get ride of the bulb out error on my Passat 3C/B7 (Euro Version).

Has anyone tried changing the tail light options through access code 31347 on VCDS / OBDELEVEN (Central Electronics)? It seems safer then changing Byte 18 and it can be reversed as long as you remember the previous setting. Any ideas or if anyone has done this before when retrofitting LED tail lights.

Have you somehow managed to do it? I have the same problem with passat and no luck so far. Also, anyone still has this pdf for byte 18? Because link is not working anymore
