Hi all,
When I bought my golf mk7.5 gtd 3 months ago the battery was replaced. Initially it was an efb but was replaced by an agm 096. There is no branding on the new battery but I'm told it's from the varta umbrella whatever that means. It was the dealer from where I purchased the car that replaced it obviously the cheapest he could find.
3 months down the line should i still change the serial number by one digit with obdeleven? Is there anything else i should do ? I have no fault codes and all seems well with the new battery.

ciderman : Look at the negative battery terminal - does it have his module?

(ignore the yellow gunk - it's an anti-frosting spray that dealers use down here). If you car doesn't have the module (it's called the Battery Monitor control module)-then there is no need to alter any coding values because your car doesn't have an active energy management system

If you do have the module:

yes, change Battery Serial Number
change Battery technology to Fleece (it's the correct setting for AGM)
change Rated battery capacity to correct Amp-hour value

Thanks very much for the advice.
I have done exactly what you said this morning. I was a little confused as the list gives the options for agm binery but fleece is just fleece and that's what I've ticked if that makes sense.

I also placed a new battery last week.

The old battery was a Varta AGM and I replaced it also for a Varta AGM.

I changed the battery capicity to 70 ah (old one was 68 I believe) and changed the serial number from 1111111111 to 1111111112 (couldn't find a serial number on the new battery).

Left the battery techonolagy on "Fleece" just like the old battery (also an AGM).

Not sure if the battery manufacturer should be changed?? Varta = JCB or VAO or VA0 (last digit zero) ??
