I have a couple issues, I have been using the obdeleven on my 17 alltrack and accidentally had it set on Golf Sportsvan instead of alltrack. I didnt realize it until I have changed several things. Now I cant get my horn back when I lock the car from my remote. I have the factory security system and tried to use lock/unlock sound setting app to change it to "via sounder", now there is no sound at all when it locks or unlocks. I assumed I just didnt have the sounder installed on my car so I changed the setting back to "via horn normal" and it still has no sound. I also went to lock/unlock acoustic confirmation, which I guess turns on the ability for it to have acoustic confirmation to begin with, and spent another 10 credits to make sure it was set on "lock". And still no sound when I lock my car.... I also have an issue with the car locking every time I close my door and have the key outside the car. I tried the auto lock app and turned it on but didnt like it so I turned it back off. Can I just change the obdeleven app to the correct vehicle and start making changes or do I need to "unchange" everything back to default and then change it to the right car....and how do I do that? Thanks

I guess the first question for you to answer is - do you have a PRO version of OBD11? If you don't, then the best that you can do is to ask the one-click APP to solve your 2 x problems! If you do have a PRO account, then you have direct access to the car's coding functions (which is what the one-click APPS use to make changes)
I NEVER use ODB11 APPs because they often make changes to the car without leaving any usable records of what changes were made- which means that when the tweak goes pear-shape, it's difficult to unwind the alterations if the "undo" facility doesn't work (which happens)
This said, depending on what APPs you used, it might still be worth looking in the History part of OBD11 to see what information has been recorded about the changes that you have made

Hi Don, thanks for responding, no I don't have the pro version unfortunately. So my only hope is to check the history and hope it lists everything and just undo it?

guinness: Yes - alas this is the only option (other than buying a PRO activation code). The PRO facility is tied to your account - so ALL OBD11 dongles are PRO capable Don

So thats it...is there any technical support at all from this company? I emailed them about 2 months ago about this issue got a response 3-4 weeks later, have since replied to them 3 times with no response... is this the best they can do for helping their customers out is a forum where you hope you can find someone to walk you through a similar issue they experienced?? Is there someone i can talk too?
Sorry, Im just frustrated...not directing it towards you, I appreciate your help. I do see a list of changes I made in history now that I am looking at it. Whats the easiest way to undo them? Once that is complete, do I then change it to the correct vehicle? It looks as though there are two 2017 Golf Alltracks listed in the supported vehicles section, one choice is 2012-2017 golf alltrack and another 2017-2021 golf alltrack....? Thanks

Support is not the best.
Firstly with regards to your vehicle if you have selected the incorrect vehicle then the only people who can change that are OBD11 Support, in my experience email is not the best way to get hold of them. Either use the chat system on there website (obdeleven.com) or use the in app help function, you will get the so called AI help assistant but the best way I find to get help is
Log on to help function in the app Select the chat function (top right of the screen with all the various options Go to the bottom of the list and select Other Then you will get CAN (AI Bot) type wrong car Then from the list select I'm having some issues The select I'd like to report a bug
now tell them you have the wrong car and need it changed to whatever you need. Further then ask them that you have used apps, do you undo them or can you leave them.
If you want to reset the car back to how it was if you look through your list of apps that you have used. Just revert them back until you have them all.
If you are having trouble reading your history file to work out what you need to revert you cans post up a copy on here and we will be able to help.

Thanks quinness: no offense taken, yes -I do empathize; it must be frustrating. But, OBD11 support is focused on software/dongle problems specifically - not technical advice about car problems
If you post-up a copy of your History file, perhaps some of us (more experienced) forum members can provide further suggestions. If you are not aware how to do this - follow the instructions in my picture below:
In the last screenshot, you send yourself an email containing the History details. After you receive the information, cut-and-paste the contents into a post (hopefully it won't be too big)

Thanks Don and Tester for the guidance, I contacted support online through the website on their live chat feature. Their agents werent available so I left my contact info, hopefully they will return my message. I did pull my history, let me see if I can cut and paste to see what you think...

I am no expert but your first scan on the 27/7/20 was showing lots of error messages even before you started.
With regards to apps
Name: Lock/Unlock acoustic confirmation - you have now reverted it to how it was at the start - Lock
Name: Lock/Unlock Sound Settings - you have now reverted it to how it was at the start - Via Horn normal
Name: DLA Presentation - you appear to have done this twice but in both cases changed from Off to On.
On my old car (2014) you have to go to the MMI Car Settings Menu and do a factory reset for these changes to make a difference, dont know if that is true on yours but that fixed my issue with this mod.

guinness : hmmm....... If I'm reading your records correctly, there's something exceedingly odd about your account of events and the way your car is programmed - I think!!
So, please don't take offense, because none is intended - but in your opening post, you assert:
- "I have the factory security system and tried to use lock/unlock sound setting app to change it to "via sounder"
I assume that this is the reason why you implemented the following App (taken from your history records)
---------------------------------------------------------------
App Name: Lock/Unlock Sound Settings Old value: Via Sounder New value: Via Horn normal Mileage: 101493 km Date: 2021-03-14 14:15
---------------------------------------------------------------
OBD11 has reported the change to long-code in the hex09 module that resulted from implementing the App above as:
---------------------------------------------------------------
Long coding Control unit: 09 Central Electrics Old value: 00511B464041A2E969E44000 001407201800000000000000000000000000 New value: 00511B464041A2E969E44000 101407201800000000000000000000000000 Mileage: 101493 km Date: 2021-03-14 14:14 ---------------------------------------------------------------
Carefully comparing the before/after long-code strings, this means that Byte 12, Bit 4 was set by the App. This is the software switch in long-code that tells the Central Electrics module that the "sounder" is installed. This is not my understanding of how the App is meant to operate.
I NEVER use Apps - this is a reason why: the App description suggests that it is intended to add the lock/unlock sound to the Sounder - when in fact it does something very different; it tells the hex09 module that a sounder is installed !! The way that the App should be implemented is to change the adaptation channel Acknowledgement signals-Akustische Rueckmeldung Signalhorn to not active - nothing in long-code should be altered
However, of greater interest (to me, at least) is the general value of Byte 12, which originally had the value hex00 (and was changed to hex10 by the App) - see highlighted digits. This Byte tells the Central Electrics module whether an anti-theft system is fitted and what associated sensors are installed.
The "old value" of Byte 12=hex00 means that as factory-set, the Central Electrics module doesn't believe that an anti-theft system is fitted to your car and before the App changed Bit 4 (as explained above), neither did the module believe that a sounder was installed!!
Please explain why you believe that your car has an anti-theft system installed?
Don

Evening Gentlemen,
Tester - I havent tried doing a factory reset on the MMI in my car yet, I suppose I could and let you know if it changes anything, thanks for the tip.
Don - I believe I have the factory anti-theft system because it has the two VW fobs that has the lock and unlock buttons and panic button, there is also a little red light on the driver side door that I thought was for the anti-theft...? If it doesnt then how do I know if I have one and what the hell do I have then? LOL
All I wanted to do was add a few "cool" mods like a needle sweep upon startup, power windows with remote, possibly configure the urban joke (I think its called) lights and maybe a "sounder" instead of a horn...granted I screwed up picking the wrong vehicle, but I didnt think it would be this involved... wow, I really do appreciate the time and suggestions.
By the way still havent heard from obdeleven....

the panic button does not mean that the car has an OEM anti-theft alarm, or that it has an alarm siren. It simply means that the car has a panic button that will sound the car horn!!
And, the blinking red light on the driver-side door does not mean an anti-theft alarm. It means that the car is fitted with SAFELOCK, which is a kind-of deadlock facility. Search the index on your owner's manual for the term "SAFELOCK" and read what the red LED means when it's blinking, or not blinking. It should be the same as this:
Indicator lamp in the driver door After Door is locked
| Meaning
| A red LED flashes for approximately 2 seconds, firstly at short intervals and then more slowly. | The SAFELOCK mechanism is activated. | A red LED flashes for approximately 2 seconds and then goes out. The light starts to flash again after approximately 30 seconds. | The SAFELOCK mechanism is deactivated. | A red LED lights up steadily for approximately 30 seconds. | Fault in the locking system. Go to a qualified workshop. |

Ok, so I dont even have a car alarm? just a way to lock my car remotely? and safe-lock...? Which after looking it up means if, while armed, someone breaks a window the door handles basically become ineffective and cannot be opened from the outside. and that still doesnt constitute an anti-theft system? I learn something new everyday...ok, so, not to get off subject here but, how do I know if I have an actual anti-theft system then? I mean short of trying to set it off myself. Wow, assumption really is the mother of all f***ups
And now I guess the question is, if I dont have an anti-theft system then...how does this complicate my problem?
Tester - Thanks for letting me know they are on Easter break....did they happen to mention when they are returning to work? (please dont say mothers day...)?

how do I know if I have an actual anti-theft system then? I mean short of trying to set it off myself hmm....... you do what anyone who pays a small fortune to a car dealer should do when he/she gets delivery of their new car ; check the codes on the "vehicle data label" (see below) to make sure that you got what you paid-for!! You can find an explanation of the codes on the web! Here are some of the codes for various anti-theft system options:
- 7AK = Anti-theft alarm system, interior monitoring, and towing protection
- 7AL = Anti-theft alarm system, interior monitoring, backup horn, and towing protection
- 7AM = Electronic engine immobilizer with anti-theft alarm system, interior monitoring, and backup horn
- 7AN = Anti-theft alarm system, backup horn and towing protection
- 7AP = Electronic engine immobilizer w/ alarm system, interior monitoring, backup horn, and all-door unlocking
- 7AQ = Anti-theft alarm system, interior monitoring, backup horn, and towing protection
- 7AR = Electronic engine immobilizer with anti-theft alarm system and backup horn
- 7AS = Anti-theft alarm system, interior monitoring, backup horn, and towing protection
- 7AT = Anti-theft alarm system, interior monitoring, and towing protection
- 7AU = Anti-theft alarm system, interior monitoring, backup horn, and towing protection
- 7AV = Electronic engine immobilizer
- 7AW = Anti-theft alarm system, interior monitoring, and towing protection
Wow, assumption really is the mother of all f***ups hmmm.... I've have never subscribed to that idiom!! In my world, an assumption that has been proven to be incorrect is a good thing because it ALWAYS result in learning something new!! And now I guess the question is, if I dont have an anti-theft system then...how does this complicate my problem? So- that's probably the pivotal question and my response is ...it depends on what's happened!!
Your history records provide only some of the information - it tells you that at the very least, a change has been made to the long-code string on the central electrics module that incorrectly says that your car has an alarm siren. What the history records don't tell you is if any adaptation channels were also changed (I suspect that at least one channel was changed)
This is the problem with using Apps - the lack of full disclosure of the changes that were made to the car. The absence of full disclosure is probably based on the erroneous assumption (there's that word again) that all Apps can be reversed back to the original setting. Well.... as you and many others have proven, this assumption is not correct in some cases.
Again, this is why I NEVER use Apps.

Ok so the plot thickens....in addition to all these other issues now obd11 has decided to just change the car in my obd11 app to the 2017 Alltrack. No email, no info, no help or guidance of any kind... I told them exactly what I put here in my post through their online chat as I mentioned before and they just decided to change it. So am I supposed to infer from this that its ok to just start making changes under what is now the correct vehicle or that their customer service is nonexistent and they dont care. From all my experience so far with this company, Im thinking the latter... So now I have that to deal with too. I havent touched anything on my car or in the software since I first posted as I wanted to get a clear answer on what to do first. Now that there were changes made under the old vehicle that probably needed to be changed back and since thats impossible now because obd11 refuses to help me I think were about done here. So let me set this straight before I go, my problem was never about technical advice about general "car problems" and IS a problem directly related to their software/dongle specifically. I bought their software/dongle and now I am having a problem with it? Im a CUSTOMER, and I need help with their product, get it? and yes it should be that simple... Secondly, here I was talking about assumptions being the mother of all oops-ups and the first thing you do is assume I have bought my car new and should have this vehicle data label....guess what, I didn't and I dont. So learn from that...ok? So lets recap, apparently I ask stupid questions about "general car problems" when I shouldn't, God forbid I dont study every single option on my car and know them frontwards and backwards, and evidently unlike ANYONE and everyone who buys a car I didnt read line for line on some piece of paper I dont have comparing it to what I paid for...excuse me for living. You know what DON you kind of strike me as an arrogant prick. You probably have been on here too long and when it comes down to it, you just plain rub me the wrong way. I dont think I want your help anymore. So please go take your bits and bytes and your condescending remarks and oops off will ya?
Is there anyone else on here who can help or this a complete loss??

I dont think I want your help anymore. So please go take your bits and bytes and your condescending remarks and oops off will ya? ! LOL...haha - "an arrogant prick"? Really? I've been called much worse names -so thank-you for the kindness of your restraint.
The problem you have (besides the OBD11 problem) is that I've been doing this stuff for many years and I don't take offense easy, so you will need to work a lot harder to raise my ire to a level where I am even vaguely interested in lukewarm personal insults!!
But I really do understand your frustration. I wish you well in your endeavors to resolve your car faults and I'm more than delighted to add my request to yours in inviting the rest of the forum community to your assistance.
Stay well and be happy
Don
