Is there a way for the vehicle to automatically lower the side mirrors when the car is put in reverse? This is a common functionality on BMWs and surprised Audi does not have it.

It does have the feature.
Set the mirror selector dial to the side you want to dip. When you select reverse, set it to exactly where you want it and it will return to that position every time you select reverse.
