Multifunction Display scrolling colour

I noticed that the multi-function display (MFD) on pre-facelift GTI models display orange when you scroll through the menu and then the value eventually turns white. However post-facelift models, they no longer work like this? It just stays white in colour throughout even when you're scrolling through the menu.

I was just wondering is this some sort of software change to the MFD? I know that the MFD on GTIs are colored displays unlike the standard Golfs which are monochrome.
