Sportwagens have a special towing stability control mode that is automatically turned on if you have installed the euro-specific towing package wiring, which includes a module that tells the car to turn on the towing stability control. I'm in the USA and don't have the euro-style/westfalia wiring module. But I suspect that with OBD11 it is possible to manually turn on the special towing stability control feature. Anybody know anything about this? I've seen videos of this system in action and it works wonders in control the car and trailer in unplanned emergency swerving and braking. I'll be towing just a small, lightly loaded utility trailer, but I figure since that stability control feature is somewhere in the bowels of the software for my car and since I own OBD11, I would like to figure out how to turn this feature on if possible.

motorapido: Have a look in the module that OBD11 calls Brakes (@ address hex03)- in Adaptation for the channel Vehicle and trailer stabilization. Likely this channel will be set to not-activated.
I have no idea how North America Region (NAR) model mk7.5s manage trailer stabilization, but I suspect that this channel is the software switch for the facility on Rest of World (RoW) cars. This said, if your car doesn't have an actual trailer module (it's called "J345") installed on the CAN network @ address hex69, I'm not confident that the stabilization function will work - I think! I'm conceptualizing the euro towing module as a relay of sorts. When the trailer wiring is plugged into it, the module relay is triggered and this sends an instruction of bundled code changes to the car, activating the towing stability assistance. That's gotta be the way the module works. Without the module, I am envisioning manually using OBD11 to change each of the stability control parameters one by one. Then when I am done towing, I would use OBD11 to change back to normal stability control, non-towing mode. It's a matter of figuring out each of the code changes that the module triggers, and then manually making those changes. Can't be too complicated, right?
